Chippewa Luau and Tropical Pool Party
This years Chippewa Luau and Tropical Pool Party is Friday, April 12 from 2:30 - 5:00pm. Kids can go directly to the party after school and be done in time for the Island Lake Carnival (for Island Lake families). NO ACTIVITY BUSES! The party has two parts:
- The gym will have a giant inflatable obstacle course, an inflatable limbo and a DJ rocking songs for the kids and directing the kids in limbo and hula hoop contests, photo booths, and a tropical tiki concession stand (with shaved ice, hot dogs, popcorn and cookies to purchase).
- The pool will have lots of fun floaties and beach balls. Music will be pumped into the pool.
Kids are welcome to do either or both of the events. They do not have to swim if they do not want to. Tickets will be on sale for $5 during lunch on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th, and Friday 12th.
Volunteers Needed!
In order to make the party a success, we need Volunteer. We need your help with set up , chaperoning during and tearing down after the party. Please volunteer using the sign up link below if you are able to help. We are only able to host these events with your help so any time you can give is greatly appreciated.
We are very excited for the kids to have a great time at the party!!

Cover Contest for the 2019/2020 Student Planner!
Attention all 6th and 7th grade students! Are you an artist? Are you creative? We are looking for a new cover for next year's student planner! We will be accepting entries for the cover design for the next few weeks. If you'd like to participate, please create a design on a half sheet of paper (8 1/2 by 5 1/2) and submit it to the front office by Friday, April 26th. Please include your name with your submission.
The art should include "Chippewa Middle School" and "2019-20" somewhere on the cover. A panel of judges will pick from the entries and the winner will be announced in May. We are eager to see the creative and fun pieces you come up with!

ChAC Hospitality - Breakfast Bar
The Chippewa Advisory Council (ChaC) is providing breakfast for our wonderful Chippewa teachers during a staff meeting on April 17th, and if you would like to contribute to this event, please sign up below. You can drop off food by 6:45 am that morning- refrigerated and other items could be dropped in the office the day before if it is clearly marked for the breakfast.
Chippewa Food and Fund Drive:
Thanks to our awesome community, staff and students Chippewa has met their goal to raise and donate 2,000 pounds of food (a combination of monetary and food donations) to the Ralph Reeder food shelf. Chippewa has collected 999 pounds of food and $1,167.60 for a total of 2,166.60 combined food and monetary donations! Your donations are already hard at work supporting families in need. For every $1.00 donated the Ralph Reeder food shelf is able to purchase up to $8.00 worth of food.

Co-Curricular Sports & Schedules
Music for Mounds View
The concert will be entirely performed by 13 talented Mounds View student musicians, playing a mix of classical and contemporary music on various instruments. There will also be free food, including a chocolate fountain, appetizers, and more! Tickets can be bought online at m4mv.brownpapertickets.com and the cost is $13.00 for students and seniors and $16.00 for parents and adults. You can pay with cash or card. 100% of the money raised from ticket sales will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, National Brain Tumor Society, and Ralph Reeder food shelf. SEPPAC
The Special Education Parent and Professional Advisory Council (SEPPAC) will host "Celebrate Success" on April 25. Celebrate Success is an annual event where a panel of past and present students, who have received special education services, share their post-secondary plans and aspirations and experiences in K - 12 education. The event will take place at the District Center from 6:45-8:15 p.m.

Chippewa Robotics Fundraiser
Chippewa Middle School's Team Berzerk, one of the top three FIRST LEGO League teams out of 600 in Minnesota, is traveling to Detroit to compete in the FIRST Championship with teams from around the world. You can support the team by dining at Jersey Mike's this Saturday between 5:00 and 9:00 pm. The team will receive 25% of the proceeds.

Chalkboard Capers
Chalkboard Capers is a variety show presented annually by the Mounds View Education Association. District teachers and staff host the show to raise money for student scholarships for graduating seniors from Irondale High School, Mounds View High School, REACH Academy, Area Learning Center and Adult Basic Education.
Chalkboard Capers 2019 performances at Irondale High School:

NEW! Community Education Family Fun Run & Walk for Youth Scholarships!
Join Mounds View Public Schools families and friends on August 10, 2019, for a Family Fun Run & Walk to benefit Community Education Youth Scholarships. The event will feature a 5k run/walk and 1k kids run. After the run there will be refreshments, vendors, prizes and more. All are welcome and strollers are permitted. Participants will receive a t-shirt!
Orchestra Notes - Summer Orchestra
Mark your calendars! Students who are currently enrolled in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to participate in the District 621 Summer Orchestra program. The dates are July 8-August 1, Mondays-Thursdays. Classes are 50 minutes and they are scheduled at various locations across the district, starting as early as 7am or as late as 7pm. Registration materials will be shared with families soon.
There is also a middle school camp available for students entering grades 7-8 in 2019-2020.
