MITOSIS VS MEIOSIS
What are 5 differences between Mitosis and Meiosis
Meiosis
During meiosis the cell goes through PMAT twice Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase twice, but only interphase once. Meiosis Is Haploid cell on the other hand mitosis is a Diploid cell. The cells that are produced from this cycle are called germ cells/ Gametes or sperm and egg cells.
Mitosis
During Mitosis the cell goes through division once so unlike meiosis it doesn't have to go through PMAT twice. Mitosis is a Diploid cell while Meiosis is a Haploid cell. Mitosis is not used for the reproduction of sex cells it is used for healing the body, replacing cells and growth.
Mitosis
-Diploid
-Asexual
-Two daughter cells
-Daughter cells are identical
-One cell division
-creates only body cells
-Does not cross over
Meiosis
-Haploid
-Sexual
-Four daughter cells
-Daughter cells are different
-Two cell divisions
-creates gametes or sperm and egg cells
-Crossing over chromosomes during Prophase 1
