Winter/Spring Story Time Programs

Registration for Winter/Spring 2022 Story Time programs begins Monday, January 3, at 10 a.m. Glocester Libraries require all patrons to wear masks in the libraries.


The programs include:

Baby Story Time begins Thursdays, January 27, 10 a.m., at the Harmony Library.

Weekly Dates: 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5

Caregivers and infants to 2 years old, join Miss Kat for this 30-minute story time of stories, songs, finger plays, and playtime! Class size is limited to eight participants.


Toddler Story Time begins Tuesday, January 25, 10:30 a.m., at the Harmony Library and Friday, January 28, 10:30 a.m., at the Glocester Manton Library.

Weekly Dates (Harmony): 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/26, and 5/3

Weekly Dates (Glocester Manton): 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/29, and 5/6

Caregivers and children, ages 2 to 3½ years old, join Miss Kat for a 30-minute story time filled with fun tales, songs, felt board activities, and more! Class size is limited to ten participants.


Preschooler Story Time begins Wednesday, January 26, 11 a.m., at the Glocester Manton Library and Thursday, January 27, 11 a.m., at the Harmony Library

Weekly Dates (Glocester Manton): 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 3/2, 3/9, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/27, and 5/4

Weekly Dates (Harmony): 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, and 5/5

Children, ages 3½ to 5 years old, join Miss Kat for a 45-minutes program of stories, felt board activities, songs, and crafts! Class size is limited to ten participants.

Children Programs

Fancy Frosty

January 3 - 31, during library hours, Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: All Ages

Fancy Frosty will be our January Art Installation in the Children’s Room. Drop in and help decorate Frosty using cray pas pastels and pom-poms! No registration required.


Winter Lanterns

Monday, January 3, 4:30 p.m., Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: Grades K- 5

Our monthly Monday craft group will create winter lanterns in January. Come and create a shining glass lantern suitable for indoors or outdoors.


Transylvania Movie Night

Friday, January 14, 4:30 p.m., Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: Ages 6 and up

Join Miss Kat to watch the newest movie about Transylvania! Snacks, drinks, and pizza will be provided. Bring your own blanket/pillow/beanbag to get comfortable!


Pajama Story Time

Thursday, January 20, 5 p.m., Harmony Library

Age Level: Ages 2-6

Join Miss Kat with your comfiest pajamas for stories, songs, and a craft!


Easy Loom Knitting

Tuesday, January 25, 4:30 p.m., Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: Ages 9 and up

Learn how to loom knit. It’s so much easier than regular knitting. Our first project will be a winter hat with a pom-pom. If you can handle a pencil, play a video game, or flip the pages in a book, YOU CAN LOOM KNIT! Note: Attendance is limited to five participants.

Tween/Teen Programs

Teen Paint-by-Numbers

Monday, January 10, 5 p.m., Harmony Library

Age Level: Ages 11 and up

Join Miss Kat and complete a paint-by-number set! This set is yours to take home and complete. All supplies will be provided.

Adult Programs

Glocester Libraries require all patrons to wear masks in the libraries.

Note: Registration is required for all adult programs unless otherwise noted.


Cookbook Club

Monday, January 3, 6 p.m., Harmony Library

The Cookbook Club will ring in the New Year with our first in-person meeting since March of 2020! For this meeting, we will explore vintage recipes from days gone by. This is the perfect time to highlight grandma's tried and true standbys. The library will also provide copies of cookbooks with ideas. Call the Harmony Library at 949-2850 for more information.


Tuesday Movie Matinees

Tuesday, January 4, 11, 18, and 25, 2 p.m., Glocester Manton Library

Newly released feature films will be shown in the Community Room. Light snacks will be offered. For a listing of the films, please visit our website or call the library. Registration is not required. The movies include:

Fearless Art

Wednesday, January 12 and 26, 2 p.m., Harmony Library

Please join us as we continue to explore watercolors through viewing online tutorials and discussing our shared work. All materials are provided, but if you have watercolor brushes, please bring them.


Writers' Support Group

Thursday, January 20, 6:30 p.m., Harmony Library
Jump start your resolution to write a book by joining the Writers’ Support Group! Read and share your personal writing projects at this monthly meeting. This adult group is open to writers in all genres. Registration is not necessary.


Evening Book Discussion & Dinner
Monday, January 24, 6 p.m., Harmony Library

Join us for a delicious dinner followed by a lively discussion of the New York Times bestseller, Defending Jacob by William Landay.

One-on-One Technology Instruction

By appointment only

The Glocester libraries have returned to in-person technology classes! If you would like help with a Microsoft Office application: Word, Excel, or PowerPoint; want to learn how to use your new iPad or Apple laptop; or develop basic Internet skills, please phone the Harmony Library at 949-2850 or the Glocester Manton Library at 568-6077 for an appointment. Note: All classes require participants to wear a mask at this time. If COVID conditions worsen, these technology classes may be temporarily postponed.
