WWI HAS BEGUN!!!

Brief description of WWI

World War I began on July 28, 1914, when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This seemingly small conflict between two countries spread rapidly: soon, Germany, Russia, Great Britain, and France were all drawn into the war, largely because they were involved in treaties that obligated them to defend certain other nations. Western and eastern fronts quickly opened along the borders of Germany and Austria-Hungary

We made an alliance with Russia, France, and Britain

US joins

The United States entered the war because of the Germans' decision to resume the policy of unrestricted submarine warfare, and the so-called "Zimmerman telegram," intercepted by the British, in which Germany floated the idea of an alliance with Mexico.

Important people

Woodrow Wilson- Sought to keep america safe by trying his best to keep us out of the war, out of danger

FDR- During the war FDR worked to aid the British army because Britain was at constant war with the Germans

Germany surrenders

Germany had formally surrendered on November 11, 1918, and all nations had agreed to stop fighting while the terms of peace were negotiated. On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Nations (including Britain, France, Italy and Russia) signed the Treaty of Versailles, formally ending the war.

FDR pulls us out

Over the next eight years, the government instituted a series of experimental projects and programs, known collectively as the New Deal, that aimed to restore some measure of dignity and prosperity to many Americans. More than that, Roosevelt’s New Deal permanently changed the federal government’s relationship to the U.S. populace.

The dust bowl

The Dust Bowl, also known as the Dirty Thirties, was a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the US and Canadian prairies during the 1930s; severe drought and a failure to apply dryland farming methods to prevent wind erosion (the Aeolian processes)caused the phenomenon.

The New Deal

The new deal was very important in texas because it offered more jobs for the unemployed

Tenant workers

These people were poor even before the depression so the depression totally left them bankrupt over the years of the crash

WWII

FDR

Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) was the 32nd President of the United States and the only chief executive to be elected to more than two terms in office. Roosevelt held the presidency from 1934-1945, leading the United States through the Great Depression and World War II. His legislative program, the New Deal, greatly expanded the role of the federal government in American society.

Adolf Hitler is a key person

WWII would have never happened if he didn't declare war on everyone

Texas contribution

We payed high taxes and most of our men went to war and the women made army supplies in the factories. Our lives changed because we were forced to work so we win the war and because we lost a lot of money to the military

The war has ended!!

The Nazi empire surrendered to the alliance
