Message From The Principal
Spring is here and we are so happy to be taking advantage of the weather this week. Many classrooms have spent time outside reading and enjoying the extra sunshine! This week we also enjoyed some beautiful kindergarten music performances lead by our wonderful Karin Meister. It was lovely to have so many families attend to support our music program here at Westbrook.
This week we greatly enjoyed Teacher Appreciation Week. I would like to take a moment to thank each and every staff member here at Westbrook. Their commitment and dedication to our students, their families and the community is second to none! They are amazing individuals and all staff members play an important and vital role in the development of our students.
A huge thank you to all of YOU for your support this week too! Thank you for all of the treats, flowers, gift cards and kind notes to all of our staff. It really mean so much! Thank you to our wonderful PTA and volunteers for all their support this week! It has been a special week with so many smiles and laughs. We are all so fortunate to work in such a supportive community!
Next week Westbrook is hosting our PTA meeting. We hope to see you there. We also have a Preschool field trip planned for our PM preschools to the Glenview Public Library, how exciting!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Patrick
2023-2024 Registration Open!
Early Registration Deadline: June 9
While we are still focused on the fun and learning of this school year, it's time to think about next year! Register before the last day of school (June 9), and you will receive the early registration discount:
- Families who register for full-day kindergarten before that deadline will pay a $3,300 fee (a $330 deposit is due at registration); the fee increases to $3,600 after the deadline.
- The early registration discount for all other grades is $100.
New Fee Waiver Process for All Grades
New This School Year!
Families who wish to request a waiver of the required registration fees for the 2023-2024 school year will complete a new fee waiver application. The form is available at glenview34.org/fees, and you only need to complete one application per family, regardless of the number of children who attend D34 schools.
This fee waiver is separate from the National School Lunch free/reduced lunch application, and applies to all grades, including full-day kindergarten.

From Westbrook Literacy Coach - Mandy Freer
As the weather gets nicer, learn how a simple walk around the neighborhood can turn into a powerful opportunity for learning! Children can take along notebooks and pens to jot down ideas and questions as they walk, or they can verbalize their questions to you as they walk. Then when you get home you can use those questions to drive some research and exploration into online resources and books to help answer their questions!

Sign Up by May 15 for GRASP Summer Learning
As part of the District's summer offerings, again this year we are partnering with the Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program (GRASP) this year to offer an optional summer review program at no charge. GRASP is a way for your child to maintain reading and math skills while on summer break.
Students receive a workbook with nine units of review exercises to complete each week. Families mail answer sheets to GRASP for scoring. Or, you can avoid postage and drop off answer sheets at the District 34 Administration Building, 1401 Greenwood Road. GRASP materials are available only in English at this time.
To register, complete this form no later than May 15, 2023.
After you register, materials will be mailed directly to your home. Please submit a separate form for each child you wish to register.
Please only register if you are able to complete all required lessons and send in answer sheets weekly. The last unit will be due by August 4th. By completing this form, you are making a commitment that your child will fully participate in GRASP for Summer 2023.
