"Achieving Our Dreams through Education"
Happy New Year
This is the time of year where a lot of people let go of the past and look forward with hope, close old doors and open new ones. I think the Winter/Christmas Break works for us educators perfectly because it gives us a much needed break. And in that time it serves to reset, refresh and refocus us.
During the new year many people set goals to be accomplished called resolutions. If you have made any resolutions I wish you the best this year in accomplishing them, it is possible to accomplish them.
Special Thanks
I also want to thank Miss Nellis and Ms. Lucero for arranging the secret Santa gifts for students over the break. It is a lot of work, but worth it. Thank you.
A special thanks to Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Stevens for arranging our gift exchange and the good "eats" we had together before the break. It was a great way to end the year.

Bench Mark Assessments: iStation & Dibbles.
Ms. Jensen and Mrs. Merchant will be assisting Mrs. Stevens and will not be on their regular schedules until the data is collected
Dibbles
This will start on Jan. 4th. Students will be pulled from your classrooms to have the assessment administered.
iStations
Our iStation Benchmark Assessment happens this Month. Starting Jan. 9th. Please emphasize to your students that this is how we measure growth. This week back to school would be a good time to refresh their minds on how the test is set up. You can do this by projecting it onto your promethean board and logging into your account. It is also a good idea to accompany your students to the computer lab while they take the assessment.

A Teacher's Power Over Student Self Image
Slow, dumb, trouble-maker…these are the words that challenging students can hear about themselves from the mouths of the adults they know. One Israeli teacher wants to remind educators that your words make a difference in how students see themselves and build confidence. Check out this video to hear her experiences both in the classroom and in her personal life (Soul Mama, Facebook.com).
