Log in as a parent/student/member

The password for first time users is your student's GISD ID number (should be 6 digits)

For non-first time users, your password should be your student's ID with "s" in front (i.e. s123456)

Please update contact information, check your student's birthday, gender, ID, instrument, etc. and make changes as necessary. If you have questions or have difficulty logging in, please contact Mrs. Becker.

Morning Procedures

No band students need to bring band instruments to school on the first day.

**Advanced Band students should begin bringing instruments on Tuesday and Beginner Band students should begin bringing instruments on Wednesday.**


If students arrive at school before 8:10am, they should go straight to the big gym. If they have an instrument to put in the band hall and they are not attending tutorials or eating breakfast, they should sit on the floor in the far corner of the gym with all other band students. If they are going to breakfast or tutorials, they should sit in the labeled section in the bleachers with their instrument.

At 8:10am, breakfast and tutorial students are released to go to those locations.

At 8:40am, students who have an instrument to put away will be released from the big gym (as long as they are seated on the floor in the "band" area) and the cafeteria to put instruments away. They should come to the band hall and put their instrument and band binder in their assigned location then WAIT IN THE BAND HALL UNTIL THE BELL RELEASES STUDENTS TO 1st PERIOD AT 8:42am.

At 8:42am, students should go to their 1st period class. In 2 weeks (8/26), they will make a quick pit stop to pick up their Chromebook from their 7th period teacher's classroom.

Unless students are attending a private lesson or a scheduled band sectional (Wind Symphony and Honors Band students only), they will not be allowed in the band hall until 8:40am.

**We will go over these procedures in detail in all classes tomorrow and it should make more sense to the students after that.**

Shirt Sizes THIS WEEK!

We will be ordering our 2019-2020 Hudson Band t-shirts next week and want to make sure we order the correct size for everyone. We will collect student sizes this Thursday in class. If you would prefer, please send Mrs. Becker an email with your student's t-shirt size (Youth L - Adult 2XL).

Band Binders Going Out This Week

All students will receive their new band binder by Wednesday. Pencils and pencil pouches are coming, and will be added to the binders when they arrive. We will be taking grades on the organization of the band binders from time to time. Please help your student stay organized and remind them to put their papers in the rings and behind the correct divider.

**ALL REQUIRED BAND HANDBOOK FORMS AND A 2019-2020 PERFORMANCE CALENDAR IS IN THE HANDOUT SECTION OF EVERY BINDER.** These forms are due by Friday, August 30 for a grade.

Take Care of Temporary

The new band hall has some temporary storage shelves, temporary doors and windows, and temporary uniform storage. It's important that although many of the things in our new space won't be here for long, we will need to take GREAT care of what we have. We should receive new lockers in October, so students will be storing instruments and binders on open shelves for the time being. Staying organized and keeping trash out of these areas is very important. Also, it is IMPERATIVE that ALL instruments and binders are LABELED with student names and contact info. Please help us with this!

Practice Records for Advanced Band Students

All Advanced Band students will start logging their practice minutes into their Charms account next week (beginning 8/19). Their first practice log grade will be taken in two Mondays (8/26). We will go over how to input the minutes in the advanced band classes this week. This is a weekly grade and very important for the growth of each musician. If you are having trouble logging into Charms, please contact Mrs. Becker to have your password reset.

5th Annual Beginner Band Parent Meeting

Tuesday, Aug. 27th, 6pm

4405 Hudson Park

Sachse, TX

Beginner Band parent meeting begins at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. We will discuss everything you need to know about beginning band, collect required handbook forms and fees, and answer any questions you may have.

If you are an Advanced Band parent and missed our meeting on August 2, you are welcome to attend the Beginner Band parent meeting instead.
