We had so much fun talking like pirates and celebrating International Dot Day. Dot Day is where the kids learn about creativity and making their mark on this world. They had a wonderful lesson with our librarian and we made some creative dots in our own classroom.
The kids have just been so excellent. I am excited to take them swimming this week. My expectations are that they use the same manners and respect they use at school with the swim coaches. Please remind them of representing OSE, our class and your family well at the pool. The better they listen and behave the more they will get to do and the more fun they will have. Wave at us from the balcony!
There is no spelling test this week. The kids will be tired and we will have no opportunities for practice at school. We will get new lists next Friday and should test on Sept. 28.
I am not sure if I ever addressed birthdays. You are welcome to send in a birthday treat to share with the class on your child's special day. Donuts are always a favorite because they are easy, less messy and a fun morning treat. I have alternative snacks for our allergy kids but do keep them in mind and make sure the treats are nut free. Thanks!
Have a great weekend!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts-We worked on making mental images while reading to help us understand what we read. We read The Salamander Room and I introduced them to Chris Van Allsburg's huge imagination in The Mystery's of Harris Burdock. Chris Van Allsburg is one of my favorite authors and his story's with a twist are so intriguing. He is who wrote The Polar Express.
Social Studies-We started looking at the Pledge of Allegiance and what the words really mean.
Science- We keep diving deeper into attributes of matter, sorting, classifying and comparing.
