The Lion's Share Newsletter
March Edition
From the Desk of Mr. Miller:
Happy snowy start to the month of March, everyone! It would seem that March is picking up where February left off! I think it is safe to say that we are all looking forward to some warmer temperatures and sunshine in our near future!
Speaking of the snow, last month I brought up the subject of snow days and the possibility of having to make up some time to meet state requirements. Our Superintendent, Dr. Thomas, recently submitted a waiver to the state of Colorado in order for the district to move forward with our current schedule. The state approved the waiver, which means we will finish out the year with our current schedule without having to add time! I think we are all relieved to hear this news!
As we head into the 4th quarter, we will be having many fun activities and events coming up. I would really like to encourage you and your family to attend our STEAM Week Family Night! Our family night will take place Friday, March 13th from 6:00-8:00! An information flyer was sent home last week. For those that attend our Family Night, we will be dishing up free pie and your student will be entered to win a Dash Robot! It's going to be a great night and we hope to see you there. Please see additional information on the Family Night below.
It's that time of year for new families to enroll their kindergartner for the 2020-2021 school year! If you know of a family looking for a great school, please tell them to look no further than Grant! Tammy Roth in our front office is ready to help families enroll today. If you know somebody that would like their student to attend Grant, please have them contact Mrs. Roth at 719.328.5711 or via email at tamara.roth@d11.org. She is a great resource to help with any questions for our newest Lion families!
Finally, as we celebrate Dr. Seuss this month, I would encourage your student to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character on Friday, March 6th! We will have guest volunteers reading to our students, door decorating prizes, and an all-school assembly to kick off this fun day!
As a friendly reminder, Spring Break will take place during the week of March 23rd. I hope you will find some time to relax and reconnect with friends and family. Once we return from Spring Break, it will be a mad rush to the end of the year!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please just let me know!
Thanks for Reading,
Ryan Miller
