The Lion's Share Newsletter
January 2020
From the Desk of Mr. Miller:
Welcome back, Grant families! I hope you were all able to enjoy your time over the holidays with friends and family! We had some family from out of state join us for Christmas and found some time to relax. The time off was much needed as we gear up to start our 2nd semester of school.
I am excited to share with you an upcoming event that will be great fun for our Lions, as well as provide valuable information for you! Early in March, we will be having STEAM week. What is STEAM week you ask? STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The fun part for our students is that we have partnered with the Challenger Center to bring outer space to life through a planetarium. Students will participate in a variety of STEAM activities during school that week. The week will cumulate in an exciting parent night the evening of March 13 at 6:00 pm! Come and join us to see all the great things your child has learned! That night, your student's art work from the week will be on display, we will be raffling off an exciting technology prize, and there will be a presentation on internet safety. To top it all off, being "pi" week, we will all be able to enjoy some free pie during Friday night's presentation! Be on the lookout for more information coming your way soon! Be sure to mark your calendar now!
I would also like to ask for your help regarding our upcoming 2020-2021 budget. I will be asking for your voice to help guide planning out our budget for the upcoming school year. I will be offering a few different dates and times. More information will be coming to you very soon! Your voice is important and I hope you can join myself and our assistant principal, Julie Johnson, to help with this process.
Finally, if you or somebody you know would like to help out our students as a health tech (training will be provided!) or a recess duty monitor, please contact me! Both jobs are paid positions and we are in need of some help! You can find all of my contact information at the bottom of this newsletter. We would love to have you be a part of our team!
I hope the transition coming back to school has been a smooth one! We have been so happy to have our Lions back in the building! Please know, if you ever have a question or concern, don't hesitate to reach out! Thank you for being a part of our great Grant community!
As always, thanks for reading!
