Mrs. Fitzpatrick Wins Emerson Excellence In Teaching Award

Congratulations to choir teacher and director Mrs. Fitzpatrick on winning the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award! Francis Howell High School is committed to setting high expectations for students and helping each student to reach their full potential and Mrs. FItzpatrick truly exhibits these values and works daily to ensure that her students are successful and continue to grow not only as students but also as people.

As a choir teacher at Francis Howell High School Mrs. Fitzpatrick has developed positive relationships with students and has cultivated a passion for singing and the musical arts. When walking into her classroom one can quickly see her infectious love of music and the excitement that resonates among her students. It is impressive to watch Mrs. Fitzpatrick work with students of varying skill levels and her ability to meet them where they are to help them accomplish high levels of achievement. During her time at Francis Howell, she has grown the choir program and enrollment in her classes and the choir to levels never seen before. The students within these courses and the choir are now competing both locally and at the state level because of her instruction and involvement in their musical development.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick also puts a strong emphasis on character and leadership development. She routinely embeds leadership and character development activities into her lessons and also encourages students to attend leadership development opportunities outside of her classroom. This year she has become an integral part of Viking Leadership Academy that is focused on developing student leaders within the building. Her commitment to developing the entire student has led to the positive growth of students both in and out of the classroom. Mrs. Fitzpatrick not only promotes the arts but also promotes the development of well-rounded and successful contributing members of the school community. Congratulations again to Mrs. Fitzpatrick on her recognition!

Golden Girls Spend Saturday Giving Back

Programs at Howell continue to be actively involved in the community and giving back to great organizations and causes. On Saturday, the Golden Girls program took part in two great opportunities to give back and to help others. On Saturday morning, the GG's participated in the JDRF One Walk and Saturday night were involved in the Light the Night cancer walk. It is not only great to see our Golden Girls have success with their performances but also have success in our community. Thank you to our GG's for their efforts and all they do to give back.
