Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matches to student needs, and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.

Volunteers and Lunch Visitors
Hoosier Road Elementary always has many opportunities for parents to become involved. Whether it’s through volunteering in the classroom or a PTO event, attending classroom activities or even eating lunch with your child, you must have a valid background check on file and view the anti-bullying training on-line. Background checks are valid for three years. Please allow up to 6 business days for checks to be completed. Please follow this link for complete directions: http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/parents/volunteering.aspx
We want you to be able to interact with our students but we also need to adhere to strict safety guidelines set forth by our school district. Look for an email from Safe Visitor Solutions which will issue a bar code unique to you. Please bring that bar code (on your phone or on paper) on your first visit to HRE so we may take your photo! Thank you for your compliance and for helping to keep all of our students safe.
Transportation Changes
All students are considered bus riders unless we receive a permanent transportation change in the form of a written note from the parent. Permanent changes only require a one-time note per student.
Parents: We want to ensure that your child goes home each evening the way you prefer but we will not know what that is without a written note from you. Please send in a note each day that your child has a transportation change. If you need to call in a last minute change, please try to do so before 2 PM to avoid any confusion.
Thank you for helping us get every child home safely each and every day!
Book Rental and iPad Fees
You will be receiving a skylert as soon as your child's book and iPad rental fees have been posted. Fees may be paid anytime, after they are posted, via EFunds or sending in a check made out to Hoosier Road Elementary. Be sure to put checks in a sealed envelope and include your student’s name, teacher’s name, and student ID.
School Directory
We have had a number of parents wanting to find ways to schedule playdates, parties, etc. with their children’s classmates. HSE has made this possible with our Online School Directory. This service is only available for those families that choose to “OPT IN”.
You may select what information you would like other parents to see (such as address, phone numbers) for birthday invitations and the like. If you would like to “OPT IN” please follow the steps below:
- Login to Skyward
- Click on “MY ACCOUNT” tab in the upper right corner
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the School Directory section
- Choose which information you would like to share
- Click Save in the upper right corner
Please note that the only people that will have access to this, are the families at Hoosier Road Elementary. If you have older children at other schools, their information will only be shared with the families at their school. We hope this will help our students to be able to stay connected outside of school hours.
