The Triton Tribune
Be Kind ~ Be Awesome ~ Make The Right Choices
Volume 3 ~ Issue 17 ~ November 29, 2021
Amazing Triton Staff,
"Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices." ~Robert Braathe
It is fitting that in the month of November and December our Triton Trait focus has been all about GRATITUDE. I hope that your Thanksgiving break was filled with gratitude and that your family created wonderful and unforgettable memories that brought much joy. For December, I would like to challenge you to create a gratitude jar where your students can drop in daily gratitude notes. Then on the last week of school, either after EOCs or on Thursday, December 16, share out these notes with the entire class. This is a great way to send students off on their holiday, hearts filled with gratitude.
END-OF-COURSE EXAMS INFORMATION
It is only two weeks away from end-of-course exams or finals, which will be given on December 13 (Periods 1 & 2), 14 (Periods 3 & 4) & 15 (Periods 5 & 6). These dates are all minimum days with a release time of 1:15pm. Please continue to encourage your students to work hard, catch up on any missing assignments. If you have students who are failing, you should have already sent written report(s) from the parents of these students.

POOLED TESTING SCHOOLWIDE COMING DECEMBER 6, 2021
As we start to add events during and after school hours, district COVID protocols must be implemented. This is our new normal. Our first major schoolwide event is our Triton Motivational Send-Off on December 17. Just like with high school homecoming dances, our students will be required to get tested regardless of vaccination status. While this is an event during school hours, students will not be in their classrooms as they will be moving between three events. Consequently, to ensure our safety protocols, ALL students must be tested 72 hours prior the event. Students who did not get a negative COVID test result will not be able to participate. Some of you have already submitted consent forms for the pooled testing. If you have not, click on this LINK to complete the consent form. So far, we have approximately 700 students who have submitted consent forms. Let's make this 100%. If you have any questions regarding pooled testing, please contact any of the administration team to have your questions answered. We are looking at all options in which classes to test; our first choice is during TSP classes.
TRITON MOTIVATION SEND-OFF DAY IS DECEMBER 17, 2021
We have been approved for our Triton Motivational Send-Off for this school year. Our very first one two years ago was immensely successful and we anticipate that this year's event will be even be more so! Below is the most recent information on our big event. Families, think about how you can contribute to the military care packages. We only have two and a half weeks to collect all needed items. Please read all information below.
PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION (PTSO)
On behalf of the PTSO officers, I would like to encourage you to join PTSO for this year. The cost is $10/person. All funds are given back to the school in the form of teacher grants, teacher celebration and other community events. Last year, PTSO did not have a membership drive because we were not in person but now they are back. If you are interested in joining PTSO, please email our PTSO president, Ms. Erin Ferma. Her email is Erin erinphd2005@gmail.com or you may contact her at 619.379.4780. Below is the PTSO flyer that contains a QR code that makes it easy for you to join PTSO. Thank you for supporting their work.
Finally, please read the newsletter in its entirety as there are many pertinent information regarding school for the next two weeks.
Here is the LINK to the parent newsletter.
Let's have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Finley
What is the Triton Motivational Send-off Event?
Since students will not be in their regular classrooms, the district views this event just like Homecoming or Prom. See schedule below. This means ALL students must provide a 72-hour negative test regardless of vaccination status. Here are two ways in which you can do that:
- Participate in the schoolwide pooled testing program. This is preferred. If you want your child to participate in this testing program, click HERE to access the consent form that must be completed PRIOR to being tested. Please do not wait until the week of the event to complete this form. The school code is: Sweetwater-ELM.
- Provide your own negative test through your medical provider. It must be submitted no later than December 16, 2021. Home tests are NOT allowed.
Click HERE to view the first draft of the Triton Motivational Send-Off Instructions. It is really important that if you do not plan to be here, you let Lidia know right away as we need to secure subs as soon as possible. Starting next week, we will be holding a TSP Competition for most donations. Mr. Almero is working on a collection form for students to complete when they bring donated items. I know that we can do this!
