Explorers Post 562 First Meeting
Don’t miss your opportunity to join this program on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:00 PM.
Being an Explorer allows young people to see life from the perspective of our police officers.
Students will receive hands-on training, knowledge about the different areas of Law, an opportunity to attend a Law Enforcement Conference, and the chance to participate in regional competitions. Students will also be eligible for college scholarships, with over $5,000 awarded in Gwinnett County last year.
Explorers give their time to better their neighborhoods and schools, becoming intertwined with the community the way law enforcement strives to do through community policing efforts. They take proactive steps toward their future and throughout the entire process, they have the guidance of role model police officers.
Explorers are taught the importance of physical fitness, leadership, chain of command, teamwork, and problem-solving. They learn to negotiate scenarios like traffic stops, building searches, domestic disturbances, and investigate mock crime scenes better than some academy recruits.
Don’t miss your opportunity to join this program on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:00 PM.
We will meet at the Gwinnett County School Police HQ/Training Center, 1229 Northbrook Pkwy., Suite A, Suwanee, GA. 30024.
Located in the REAR ENTRANCE of the BUICE CENTER (Building Next to Northbrook Middle School).
Space is limited, so please reserve your spot by emailing billy.wynn@gcpsk12.org include as your subject line: Post GCSP 562.

Word of the Month: Social Engineering
Social Engineering describes a variety of tactics by which a cybercriminal uses the social skills that are part of human interaction to trick people into doing something they should not do. They gain the individual's confidence through deception in order to persuade the individual to share sensitive information, infect their computer with malware, or provide physical access to a desired location. Criminals may appear to be legitimate, posing as a credible person or impersonating a well-known and respected organization. They may claim to be a new employee, a vendor with whom the school district does business, or even the GCPS Help Desk.
