Principal's Message
Dear Edison Families:
Hard to fathom, but around this same time last year we had just returned to in person instruction for some of our students. We’ve come a long way since that blended model of in person and online instruction to end last school year and we look forward to closing out our school year with students in some more traditional ways.
As we look to finalize plans for students next year we need all families to submit the program/school type you intend for each of your children for the 2022-2023 school year – please submit your choices today Program/School Choice Survey
This past week our students continued to work hard and play hard in and out of the classroom. The growth mindset approach as we prepare for Open House on May 4 and the “show what we know” approach to state testing has been overwhelmingly positive – Bobcats have blown us all away with their transition to Spring! The addition of a number of outdoor options for students over the past few weeks has also added some friendly competition and challenges for students on our playground. From traditional board games all the way to giant jenga, chess and even some new ping pong tables have given students a wide array of choices to unwind and play with friends. We’ve even had some new landscaping begin out on our playground to replant some shade trees.
Speaking of working hard – Edison students took center stage once again at the most recent districtwide STEM Symposium and rising above all the rest Rafeal Ultreras took 1st place at District Chess Tournament with teammates placing in the top 10!
As always, I look forward to hearing from you. You are always welcome to connect with me, just call ahead at (909)984-5618 and the door will open.

Let’s Make It Right – PBIS and Restorative Practices:
One of the many ways that we work to repair the harm after a poor decision or mistake is by using Restorative Practices.
At Edison, students have the opportunity to share how they were affected by the decision of others or their own, what their thoughts were at the time, consider options for making things right, and restore the relationship among those involved in the situation. These questions are also helpful for those that were harmed in any situation.
When things go wrong, we ask:
What happened?
What were you thinking at the time?
What have you thought about since?
Who has been affected by what you have done? In what way?
What do you think you need to do to make things right?
When someone has been harmed we ask:
What did you think when you realized what had happened?
What impact has this incident had on you and others?
What has been the hardest thing for you?
What do you think needs to happen to make things right?

COVID-19 Guidelines
While California Department of Public Health (CDPH) strongly recommends that individuals continue to wear face coverings in indoor settings, the choice to mask is at the discretion of each student, employee, and family.
We will continue to implement the remaining layered mitigation strategies including:
staying home when sick
hand washing
air filtration
group contact tracing
antigen and pcr testing
quarantine
daily disinfecting and cleaning
Additionally, CDC recommends that everyone 5 years and older protect themselves from COVID-19 by getting vaccinated. Everyone ages 12 years and older should stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines and get a booster shot when eligible. Please consult with your primary care physician.
You can find more details in OMSD's School Reopening and Safety Plan.
Students Presenting Symptoms at Home -- Please Contact Our Health Office
In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Student Symptom Decision Tree.
This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.
Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.
