News and Notes From the Principal
Dear, Mustang Families -
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here are some items I want to make sure you are aware of as we start a new week.
Midterm Report Cards: Midterm grades are in; midterm report cards will be mailed home this week.
October Conferences: Conferences are coming up this week on Tuesday, 10/26, and Thursday, 10/28, from 3:00 to 7:00. The first night of conferences will be arena-style in the gym; the second night will be Virtual Conferences via Zoom. Please check out the following link for more information and sign-up for Virtual Conferences if that is your preference. Fall Conferences Information
Levy Vote: On November 2, 2021, School District 622 residents will be able to vote on whether to renew the existing operating levy. In addition, residents will consider a capital project levy, something District 622 has never had before.
Question 1 is a no-tax-increase renewal of our existing levy. It was first approved by voters in 2011 and expires next year.
Question 2 will provide digital curriculum and classroom tools, establish a replacement cycle for more than 10,000 district-owned devices, provide technology staffing and support the technology infrastructure needed.
If voters approve both the no-tax-increase renewal of our existing operating levy, as well as the new capital projects levy, the average homeowner ($250,000 home) would see a tax increase of $5.75 per month.
This short video (less than two minutes) provides a helpful overview. Levy 2021 Informational Video

Food Drive
AVID 8 would like to announce the food drive happening from October 25th to November 5th. This would be a good opportunity to help those who face hunger in our community. It would be much appreciated if you donate non-perishable food items to the box in your advisories. All of the food our school brings in will go to the North St. Paul food shelf.
You can bring in any non-perishable food items, but they are especially looking for canned fruits, baking goods like sugar, flour, cake mixes, soups that are not chicken noodle, and also personal hygiene products like deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste; please do NOT bring peanut butter.
When we did research in our class, we found out a lot of people face hunger in our country on a daily basis. This is the reason why we are doing this food drive.
The 3 top advisories who donate the most will receive a reward.
