Principal's Message

Dear Lewistown Families,

We are full swing into September and our young tigers are working hard! We've had a wonderful first few weeks with your children, getting to know them and helping them get to know one another. The first few weeks of school are so important in establishing a positive climate, expectations and routines. We believe that by investing time at the beginning of the year by teaching social skills, character values, and setting rules together, children will benefit all year long by knowing they are in a place that is welcoming and safe.

We are excited to welcome families at our Lewistown Back to School Night on Thursday, September 15th. This is a great opportunity to learn about classroom expectations and curricular content for your child's grade level.

Session 1: 5:00 - 5:25

Session 2: 5:30 - 5:50

We'd like to thank our fabulous Lewistown PTA for the back to school family carnival. Our families enjoyed face painting, balloon creations, games and dunking teachers in the dunk tank! Thank you to the many volunteers that helped make the night a HUGE SUCCESS! Stay tuned for more PTA events coming this fall!

Ms. Belinda Fockler

Proud Principal of Lewistown Elementary School

Tiger Tickets at Lewistown!

You might have heard your students telling you about the Tiger Tickets they have earned. That is connected to our PBIS system. Students are "caught being good" and earn Tiger Tickets! This is a whole school approach teaching students to show ROARing behaviors at Lewistown.

ROARing Behaviors:

Respect ourselves, others and property

Own our actions and our words

Attend school everyday

Show responsibility for our learning

Students have the opportunity to buy items at our Tiger Cart twice a month with their Tiger Tickets. Thank you to our parent volunteers for leading our Tiger Cart and visiting classrooms! I'm sure students are happy to see when they arrive!

Welcome Back Lewistown Tigers!

We are going to have an AMAZING year in Reading! FCPS has made the commitment to bridge the Science of Reading research into practice in our classrooms. Here are a few highlights about what the Science of Reading IS and what it IS NOT. Over the next few weeks I’ll share a bit more information about the 5 Big Ideas: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.
