Media Center Update
Weldon STEM High School Career Academies
September
The 2020-21 school year has gotten off to a busy start. I am honored to serve as the Media Specialist at Weldon STEM High School Career Academies where I co-advise Book Club, Hour of Code, and National Honor Society.
Last year, we faced unexpected challenges we had never before encountered. We began this year with many of the same challenges and more. I will continue to work with you to ensure we provide students with quality instruction and equitable access to necessary resources during this time.

Library Circulation Statistics
Our school has checked out 241devices to students and staff since August 3 to assist with remote learning. This number also includes Chromebooks loaned to RVEC and WEGA.
Read In
Literacy plays an important role in social and emotional wellbeing. Therefore, the media center will host its first Read In for the 2020-21 school year in September. More details will follow.
Promethean Boards
21 Promethean boards have been purchased for teacher classrooms. The boards will replace the old (some nonfunctional) SMARTBoards and projectors. A notification will be shared once the Promethean boards are ready for teacher checkout.
Student Survey
Teachers, please share the link to this reading interest survey with students. The data gathered will be used to develop our collection and guide library programs.
Remote Learning Coach
Feel free to share your remote learning questions and concerns with me. I'm serving as the district's Coach for Remote Learning and am participating in ongoing professional development facilitated by NCDPI and the Friday Institute. Be on the lookout for information regarding the six design principles:
