Staff Notes:
- NEW online ONLY: RtI Referral Form ~ RtI Referral Form click here (No more paper form). Teachers shouldn't have to refer for reading or math supports as the data referred students. You will see these lists at your upcoming team meetings.
- Bat Week Information: I uploaded a .pdf to our eBinder/General Docs from our local Forest Service Dept. If you are interested in teaching any of it, email Amie Andertson for more information: amie.andertson@usda.gov
- Red Ribbon Week/Halloween (Oct. 29, 30, 31): Tuesday, Oct. 29 will be "We are STRONG" (Wear Red Day); Wednesday, Oct. 30 will be "Shade Yourself from Drugs" (Wear Sunglasses or a cap); Thursday, Oct. 31 will be "Say Boo to Drugs" (Wear Orange/Black) - Staff are invited to wear costumes; Teams need to decide how you want to handle costumes and communicate that plan accordingly.
- Sarah W. She spent the week in Boise taking part in some crazy medical work/challenges. I am hoping it provided her some relief and good news soon. I am also hoping to send her classroom parents an update next week when she gets the results of this week's testing. She is so appreciative of all of support and love.
- Music Program Update: I just shared the notes with classroom teachers and our music teachers. We will be working out plans for the year soon.
- Laptops: They were found mostly in the correct slots and locations of the carts were so much better this week. It pays to teach the kids the importance of always returning the carts to the lab and about the labels/slots/numbers AND to always plug them in every time they are returned to the cart.
- McCall Arts & Humanities Council: Just as a reminder, they reduced their funding to schools this year and will NOT continue the 5th Grade Art School due to the fact that we got art worked into our routine every 3 weeks. 3rd Grade is still scheduled/funded to host the 2 day creative arts camp event in the spring as well as the 4th grade continues with the Barn Dance event at Roseberry.
- PBIS Tip of the Week: "One key aspect of effective classroom management and improved student behavior is the consistent application of commonly understood responses to, and consequences for, inappropriate behavior. Students need to know what the expectations are, when and how to demonstrate them, and what the response (consequence) will be when they do not adhere to those expectations. It is critical to remember that consequence is not synonymous with punishment. The difference is that punishment is intended to control behavior, while consequences and interventions (discipline) is designed to help students learn an alternative behavior(s). See the table below for examples on difference between discipline and punishment."
