Global Service Project
During the month of September, our students learned about how receiving a quality education is an important aspect of life. Students learned about how lack of resources can impact students across our nation and around the world. At Pleasant Union, we took action to support giving to people in need. We thank all of our students and families for supporting our book drive. As you know, we collected books for the Wake Up and Read book drive. They donate 10 books to students who don't have books at home. That means, we were able to collect enough books to help 245 students in Wake County! Pleasant Union is such a caring community and definitely did its part this September on working toward the global goal of Quality Education.
Please check out the book totals by grade level:
K-357
1-458
2-377
3-305
4-317
5-635
Total- 2,449 Books
*Fourth Grade will deliver the books the books to The Wake Up and Read contact and Third Grade will send their books to Africa!
Veterans Day Concert
Veterans Day is a month away, and Pleasant Union always enjoys recognizing families and friends who have served in the Armed Forces. As well as two concerts of patriotic music, we do a wall in the lobby highlighting those people who are our heroes. If you have a special veteran in your life that you would like to recognize on this wall, please consider sending in a copy of a photo of this person. Please label the back of any photos so that they can be returned.
For more details about the concerts, please check out Ms. Freer’s Google site on the Pleasant Union webpage.
Thanks for helping us honor our veterans!
We'd like to thank all families who have supported us with landscaping during our Fall Landscaping Day. Additionally, we appreciate the brand new picnic tables provided by the PTA!!
PUE PTA News
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PUE LANDSCAPING FAMILIES AND JAY'S LANDSCAPING! The PUE outdoor renovations are underway. We have replaced 5 picnic tables and have pulled out weeds in the center carpool, removed juniper bushes throughout the entire parking lot, and will be mulching and planting grass and daylilies.
Pledging for the Panther Prowl starts has started!!
Boosterthon has returned to PUE this week and we are very excited!! We kicked off this week with a pep rally for Tracks 1, 2 & 3! Students and families are gathering pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps) at the Pleasant Union Panther Prowl. The Panther Prowl fun run will be on 10/17 for Track 3 & 10/28 for the other tracks. Students will also experience Mindspark: Wild West which combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the Mindspark kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
The funds raised will cover the landscaper (approximately $15K), technology, cultural arts, instructional supplies, family and staff events and scholarship funds. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MEET OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL! PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD COMPLETE THESE STEPS:
- Register your student(s) on FUNRUN.COM
- Reach out to sponsors by sharing your pledge link.
- All pledges and payments are made online.*
- Cheer on your student at the FUN Event on 10/17 (T3) & 10/28 (T1,2,4).
As of October 11, 2019, 27% of the students are registered, 18% have participated, and the current PUE Profit is $4,870!!
