Halloween Parade at Richland!

Richland Elementary School will celebrate with a Halloween Parade this year! Students are invited to bring costumes to school on Monday, October 31. Please note that students should not wear costumes to school. In order to accommodate so many students, we encourage students to bring costumes that will easily go over clothes. Please be considerate as no costumes are permitted with scary themes or weapons.

Our school-wide parade will begin at 2:15 on the blacktop behind the school. Parents and guardians are invited to watch the parade in designated areas. Fall celebrations will follow the parade. Teachers will communicate with parents who will be assisting with class celebrations. Please note that only those parents confirmed to volunteer may come into the school after the parade. We appreciate your understanding of our efforts to ensure a safe and fun afternoon.

If you would not like your child to participate in the parade, please write a note to your child's teacher and alternate activities will be provided.

Fire Prevention Week

Students in kindergarten, first, and second grades learned important fire safety tips this week and received up close tours of fire trucks from some volunteer firefighters. We thank the men and women who visited and shared such important safety information. Don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors!

Kindergarten Has Fun With the Alphabet

In kindergarten, students have been learning to read, write, and say the letters of the alphabet. As a fun way to review letters and letter sounds, they wrote them in shaving cream and had a blast learning!

We are excited for our upcoming Race for Education event on Friday, October 21st. Here are a few things/reminders to keep in mind for Race Day:

2nd/3rd Grade: 9:30am – 10:30am

1st Grade and AM K: 10:45am – 11:45am (AM K till 11:30am)

4th/5th Grade and PM K: 2:00pm-3:00pm (PM K till 2:45pm)

  • Make sure children have appropriate shoes/sneakers to be able to safely run/walk outside.

  • Especially for those children who will run during the morning hours, please dress appropriately in warmer clothes appropriate for the temperature (light jackets or sweatshirts and pants).

  • Anyone coming to CHEER on your student or volunteering will need to sign in at the office.

  • Only volunteers who are signed up thru Sign up Genius with RACE DAY will be permitted in the track area. You will receive a badge to wear.

  • Parents/Guardians not volunteering can watch the RACE and CHEER on your student from a designated viewing area.

  • All children will be provided with water and a soft pretzel during their Race time slot.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these procedures. Our concern is for the safety and well-being of our students and staff members.

Contributions from our sponsors have started trickling in. However, it is not too late to send in a donation. We will continue to accept donations until the end of the year.

Volunteer Clearances

Please see the district website link for information on volunteer clearances.

Clearances are needed for any classroom volunteering including parties.

Once they are updated, they are valid for 5 years.

Car Rider Procedures

Thank you for your cooperation with drop off and pick up procedures in the car rider lane. We ask that all drivers pull all the way to the cone marked stop to allow for as many students as possible to enter or exit cars quickly and safely. Please refrain from parking across the street and walking through car traffic. For safety, please enter the third driveway and take your place in line. With everyone's cooperation, our car rider procedures make drop off and pick up run very smoothly!
