Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Ms. Clark
April 12, 2018
Dear Parents,
"Our vision is clear: our Catholic schools are a vital part of the teaching mission of the Church…We must respond to challenging times with faith, vision and the will to succeed because the Catholic School’s mission is vital to the future of our young people, our nation, and most especially our Church.”
Even though I have read this quote many times and have shared it with you on multiple occasions, each time I read it, I am reminded of its very powerful message and what makes our school different from so many other schools in our area.
Our students are being formed in their faith by studying Scripture, preparing for and participating in the sacraments, and learning how Jesus calls them to become His disciples, our future Catholic leaders. Our students learn the importance of prayer by attending mass and prayer services along with praying daily for each other, our community, and our world. Finally, our students are learning to live their faith by sharing the gifts that God has given them with others and putting into practice the faith they have learned.
As we celebrate Catholic education tomorrow night at our annual SKD Gala, I thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future Catholic leaders and saints than a Catholic education!
God’s blessings,
Ms. Clark

Class Trips
As we progress deeper into the school year, we want to remind families to please ensure that their tuition account is current. Per school policy, tuition must be up to date in order for students to participate in upcoming class trips and other year-end activities.
2018-2019 School Year
The 2018-2019 school year will begin on Wednesday, September 5th for Grades 1-8. Please see the tentative calendar posted on our school website.
Third Trimester
Our third and final trimester has begun! Even though we are starting the last stretch of the school year, please continue to help us enforce the importance of good behavior and a solid work ethic with the children. Thank you, in advance, for supporting all that the teachers are doing during the school day to keep our students challenged by checking at home to see that homework and projects are completed.
SKD School Family Directory
We look forward to offering a Family Directory for the 2018-2019 School Year. The purpose of this directory is to provide parents an opportunity to communicate about rides, activities, play dates, and etc.
We feel it is important that there be open communication so that each parent can know what other parents/guardians believe and support. It is also important to know that others value the same things and are wiling to work together for a common purpose.
You will have the option to participate or simply opt out. Information will be coming home soon.
NOTE: This directory is ONLY intended for the private use of SKD and its families and its content may NOT be used for any other purpose, including mass mailings or advertisements of any kind.

Financial Aid
Applications for students who will be enrolled in K-12 during the 2018-2019 school year will be available for parents. Applications for Archdiocesan schools, parish schools, and diocesan high schools can be accessed at www.blocs.org or by going directly to https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
Please know that no parent who sincerely desires a Catholic education for their child at Saint Katharine Drexel School will be denied registration because of true financial hardships. Each parish will address this concern on a case by case basis for their parishioners. Any additional financial aid scholarship, in addition to the parishes’ subsidy, will be predetermined, and awarded by the parish, prior to the start of the academic year. Families who believe they are eligible and in need of this aid are asked to contact their local parish office and request a financial aid packet which will include the request for all pertinent financial information.
