Bus Evacuation Drill

Our Mandatory Bus Evacuation Drill is scheduled for this Friday November 12. In this drill our bus drivers talk to the kids about the safety features of the bus and how to exit the bus if they cannot use the front door. This is usually a very quick drill, but if you see about 9 busses outside Hannum School Friday morning, now you know why!

Picture Retake Day

Our Fall Picture Re-take Day is Monday, November 15th. Students that either were not at school on our original day or are unsatisfied with their pictures can have today to re take their pictures. Students should bring back their original picture packet that was given to them a few weeks ago. If your child wasn't here on our original day picture packages can be ordered online at https://orders.vangoghphoto.com/prepay/

End of Trimester One

The end of our first trimester is almost here! The last day of the Trimester will be Friday November 12th. Report cards will be available on Skyward on 11/19 at 4:00pm. Paper copies will be sent home only if specifically requested.

Veteran's Day

A very important day comes up this Thursday 11/11. It is Veteran's Day and while we don't have a big assembly planned for this year, our classrooms are all doing special activities to honor our veterans. Pease look next week at our special Veteran's Day picture slideshow that will be in our Tuesday Take Home.

Food Drive

We will once agin be accepting non perishable food items for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. Please consider donating to this worthy cause that DIRECTLY helps our Hannum families. The drive begins tomorrow and will end next Thursday 11/18. Hannum School has always been so incredibly generous. We did not have a food drive last year and we know that some of our families are struggling. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Leaf Raking

The big D123 Community Service Project is BACK! Join us with your kids to rake the yards of our senior neighbors! Meet at OLHMS and enjoy a hot dog lunch when you are all finished. See the flyer for more information.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Please do not drop students off on the opposite curb from where school is and walking them across, especially on the 2nd/3rd grade doors. and the 4/5 grade doors. This holds up the line, but is also dangerous. I see it happen constantly and while we'd like to think that drivers are being careful when they drive around our school, it isn't always the case. We don't want your child to be in a tragic accident.

If you are picking students up at the K/1 doors, please DO NOT park and block the driveway and please DO NOT park in the driveway leading to the parking lot of St Germaine. That is against fire code. You may park in one of the parking spots in the lot. I come out those doors and get everything moving smoothly and then move on to another area and then we have problems again at the K/1 doors. Please follow the rules whether I am there or not.

Please do not bring pets to pick up or drop off your child. We have children with allergies, but we have also had instances where the dogs have gotten loose and really caused problems. I love my dog too, but please leave them at home.

Please note the drop off locations and where you are allowed to park and get out of your car.

CoVid Information (new information)

Families will be notified if their child is found to have been in close contact with a CoVid positive case at school. If your child is found to be a close contact then they will have to quarantine for a period of time. More information will be given to you regarding your particular circumstances. Students may also be quarantined due to showing symptoms.

If your child is suspected of having CoVid or has symptoms that are associated with CoVid we can only accept a real time PCR test. Not an Antigen or Rapid test due to false positive results. Finally, we cannot accept alternate diagnosis anymore either. A student can have for example, strep AND Covid at the same time, so as of next week we have to have the negative Covid PCR test.

When students are quarantined, they will be given work for someone to pick up in the foyer of school. Students will get in invitation to a Homework Help Google Classroom to log on between 3:30 and 4:30 to get assistance from a Hannum staff member for work that they are struggling with. They just need to log on during that time and someone will be available to help them while they are quarantining.

SHIELD Illinois

Please check out the button below for information on opting in to having your child proactively tested for Covid 19.

The SHIELD Illinois program is a quick, simple, and non-invasive COVID-19 screening test. Students that have opted-in to the program will provide a small amount of saliva that is tested at a professional lab. Results of the test are then provided to families and our school district within the days following. The program offers students the opportunity to reduce or waive quarantine requirements in the event of close contact with a positive case or if the student demonstrates symptoms. You can opt-in to the program at any time by accessing Online Forms in Skyward Family Access. More information about the SHIELD Illinois program can be found at: d123.org/shield-illinois-testing-program
