AP/Honors Night - February 21st at 6PM in the Multi + AP Exam Update
As our second semester keeps rolling along, here is our final reminder about AP/Honors Evening coming up this Thursday at 6PM in the Multi.
This night is dedicated to inform students and parents about the AP and Honors courses offered at PHS. It is important for all of our students to go to these meetings as they will learn about expectations, summer assignments and much more from the instructor. Most importantly, parent and student both get information on work flow and what it will take to succeed.
Below you will find the schedule in English and Spanish. Also, you will find the AP/Honors agreement. This document is due March 8th for all students who plan to take an AP or Honors course during the 2019-2020 school year to the counseling office.
For those students currently in AP classes, AP testing is scheduled for the weeks of May 7 - May 18th. At this point, your student should have brought home a two sided letter. (See Tes Payment Letter below). This letter notifies the student and parents of the 2018-2019 AP testing window, the cost for each test and a selection of tests your student can take. Students were instructed to review this document and use it when selecting their exams.
The date for submitting AP registration forms is March 8th. We encourage all students who are planning to do the AP test to get their payments in ASAP to avoid any late fee's or missed opportunities. Please see a counselor for further information or for scholarship information.
Attached you will find the letter that was given to students in December. If needed, you can print this document or your student can get a new copy in the Student Assistance Center.
Lady Trojans Sweep by El Cerrito in NCS Quarterfinals; Campolindo Next
The Trojans (16-0-3) continued their unblemished season behind another balanced attack and solid defense. Previously, the Trojans had met El Cerrito early in the season. In that contest, the two teams battled back and forth with the Trojans winning 3-2. But on Saturday, Petaluma never looked threatened.
This Wednesday, the competition gets tougher as defending NCS Section Champion Campolindo visits Ellison Field. The Trojans will need our support so pencil in Wednesday, February 20th at 7PM. Remember that the NCS runs these games so an admission fee is collected by the section. Hopefully, they can keep this run going. Go Trojans! (see the video of the game below - thank you, Griffin!)

Shattuck and Pedersen Headed to State; Trojans Perform Well at NCS
The PHS Wrestling team competed in the NCS championships this weekend, performing at a very high level. First, the girls team traveled to Albany. The seven member team finished 16th out of 70 schools that competed, including a state berth for Brook Shattuck at the 101 lb. class. Logan Pomi just missed out on a trip to state with a 5th place finish.
The boys were at Logan High School and went beyond expectation. PHS finished 10th out of 95 schools, and were the highest scoring Division 3 team. Highlights included three wrestlers making it to the semi-final round (Nick Trave, Colton Prieto, and Connor Pedersen) and Charlie Winter wrestling back all the way to a sixth place finish. After his semi final defeat, Pedersen wrestled all the way through the bracket to a third place finish and spot at the state championships in Bakersfield! Just missing out on medals were Derrick Pomi and Liam O'Niell. Well done, PHS. Way to go, Coach Schloesser and his staff, and all the girls and boy wrestlers!

MarS Monterey Trip #2 in the Books
But like the ocean we visited, there was much more happening under the surface. They learned to be kind, to cheer on each other at the Thursday night talent show; they learned of the Earth's fragility, the intricate linked patterns that tie the world's people and animals together; they learned not only to find a passion, whether in the marine world or not, but to channel that passion into something greater. Most importantly, they learned that there is no greater power than to be inspired by another. I have no doubt that these students will carry the trip with them into the future and be the spirits of change we need. Thank you, Phil, Bob, and all the chaperones who went on the ride together.
