Look What's Going On At CMS!
Hello CMS Families,
We are excited to begin our 2020-21 school year. CMS teachers and staff have been working diligently to prepare for in-person and online learning. Please read the information below to clarify procedures.
Please note the official communication from CMS will now be done primarily through Parent Square, which replaces School Messenger this year. Our CMS webpage, which can be accessed at https://schools.commerceisd.org/page/03.homepage will be updated regularly. We will also provide updates on the CMS Facebook page.
Thank you for your support and flexibility as we navigate this unique school year.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
All students are required to wear masks and/or face shields to school each day.
Due to COVID-19 requirements, students will not be allowed to utilize the drinking fountains at CMS. If your child requires it, feel free to send a bottle of water with the student’s name on it. A refill station will be available during lunch.
Lunches at CMS during the hybrid model will be limited to one entree. Students will not have a choice of menu options at this time. As always, students are welcome to bring their own lunch. To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 lunch visitors and lunch drop-offs will not be permitted until further notice.
Due to social distancing requirements, CMS students will only be issued lockers upon request this school year.
We ask that students utilize a regular-sized backpack with no wheels to store notebooks, small supplies, cell phones, and lunchboxes. Please keep personal belongings to a minimum.
Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival:
CMS bus and car riders will enter the building through bus rider entrance.
Car riders will continue to be dropped off in the west parking lot and will walk around to the bus entrance for a temperature check.

After having a temperature check, students may grab breakfast if needed and immediately report to their first-period classroom.
Students arriving after 7:55 am will need to report to the front office for a temperature check and late pass before reporting to class.
Dismissal:
Car riders will be dismissed from class at 3:28 pm and will exit the building through doors by the band hall to be picked up in the west parking lot.
