How can you help as a parent?
Parents,
Are you looking for a creative academic way for your child to earn something? My daughter is currently at the age where we could give her a phone. However, I wanted her to earn it.If you are in a similar situation, have your child sign up for an account on MathGames.com.
Once an account has been created, click on "Grades". I would then recommend clicking on a grade one below their current grade. Each topic contains a very small number of questions (usually 5 to 15). If they get 100%, they get 5 stars. If they don't get them all correct, they get less than 5 stars. The program does allow them to redo the dynamically generated questions that they missed.
I gave my daughter no time limit. However, I said as soon as she gets ALL of the stars for the entire grade level, I would get her first phone for her. As a result, she has generated a tremendous amount of self discipline & asks me questions when she is confused. And, she is gaining a deeper understanding of math while she is at it.
Hope this helps!
