HONOR THE CASTLE PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR FEBRUARY
In our increasingly interconnected world, learning openness and appreciating differences are important to many aspects of building community and learning from other. In honoring February's theme, we have a few happenings for our students to participate in.
Throughout the month of February, we will remind our Knights to be on the lookout for daily information about African American History makers included through our daily student email in honor of Black History Month.
Calling all students- Any student who would like to be a part of our morning announcements in sharing how you say “Good morning” in a different language, should sign up at the link below. Those students will take part in starting our day at RMS by saying Good morning over the PA during the month of February.
Our RMS family is unique and we want to know more about each and every one of our students and staff. We will be asking our students to talk with their family or any other special adults in their life about your family roots. The students will complete the form below to add their marker to the world map. If they do not know the city, the student can enter the state or country where their family originates.
Students can add a marker on the map for their family's origin location using this form: CLICK HERE.
Our Knights can view the locations of our RMS family on this map (This map includes last year's shares and will include this year entries also): CLICK to View Map

MacBook Reminders
We wanted to provide a few MacBook reminders to support our students and families. Please see below and review these items with your Knight. Announcements and reminders are made frequently. Consequences will be issued for students who violate our District Acceptable Use Policy or Student Code of Conduct. Warnings have been issued and students have been notified of potential consequences (detentions, docking, opt-out, suspension) if they choose to violate the AUP or Student Code of Conduct. The MacBook Agreement can be found below.
These violations include:
- Installing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) which blocks the established District Filters
- Installing a gaming browser
- Downloading any applications, games or websites without building/district permission
- Playing games during instruction periods
- Leaving MacBooks in hallways or on lockers unattended.
Lost or Damaged Fees
- First offense - $50
- Second offense - $100 and student device may become opt-out and student is unable to bring device home.
- Third offense - $1100 and student will dock MacBook unless explicitly needed for assignment.
MacBook Charging
It is important your Knight charges their MacBook daily. If your child forgets, we have limited abilities to charge in the media center. Each time your child needs to charge their MacBook it will be documents. After multiple usage, the media center staff will communicate that your child has become an OPT-OUT for a period of time. We want our Knights to be prepared for the day of learning and that means coming on time to class with all materials, including their MacBook charged.
As a reminder, we have clear backpacks for sale in the main office and school store for $5.
Device Care
Outside Food and Beverage Policy
Outside food delivery is a safety concern. We do not want to have strangers and people that we do not know coming to our buildings with delivery bags. It also is a workload issue for office personnel. Managing multiple food deliveries during lunchtime becomes an additional responsibility for our office staff.
The District works hard to provide a variety of healthy, good-tasting food in its cafeterias, and students are always free to bring their own lunch to school. We will continue to follow our past practice of making sure students receive lunch if they forget to bring one from home.
