Irondale Update
An e-newsletter from Irondale High School
Monday, March 23, 2020
Dear Irondale Community,
These are certainly turbulent times we are living through, especially as you juggle the realities of what you must tend to in your own lives. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing today, as I have unfortunately realized during this crisis that some of the responsibilities of my personal life are going to require more of me than I perhaps realized or was ready to admit even a few short weeks ago.
Given the demands of leading a high school, especially during these unprecedented times, it is in the best interest of my family that I step away from the principalship in order to care for my elderly father who has recently been diagnosed with a serious illness, and amid the current COVID 19 outbreak, is having much difficulty navigating and accessing needed care. This is a deeply difficult decision, and I want to acknowledge the support of the district to allow for a change in my responsibilities. For the rest of the year, I will serve as Principal on Special Assignment at the district to support efforts as we navigate the uncharted territories in K-12 learning at this time.
I thank you, the Irondale staff and community for allowing me to serve as principal for the past four years. I am immensely grateful to serve our district, the incredible community, dedicated staff and students that inspire us to be our best every day. It is with deep gratitude that I wish our Irondale community the very best. The Irondale Knights community comes together through challenging times and emerges stronger together. I am confident that will be the case at this time.
Sincerely,
Amy Janecek
