Stream Monitoring

Did you know Friends volunteers monitor the Yahara River? It is our 6th season monitoring 12 sites. Each site is monitored once a month for 7 months out of the year.


A big THANK YOU to our monitoring coordinator David Paulson and all of our volunteers! We appreciate the time you put in to this and wish you the best of luck as the monitoring season kicks off.

Join Our Board

Are you looking for a way to get move involved with the community? WE NEED YOU!


New board member terms start in June.Time commitment for evening meetings is reduced from previous years – we’re down to quarterly board meetings. We are looking for people who are willing to do things outside of meetings, like event planning, river blockage surveying, membership recruitment, etc…


A passion for the river is a great thing to have, but we are also be interested in members who can bring a special skill set to the table – for example, a good financial background, membership recruitment experience, etc… Join us! We have a lot of fun!

Time to Renew your Membership

Our membership year runs from June 1 - June 1, so it time to renew your membership for the 2016-2017 season. Membership is only $10 but it makes a big impact locally!


As a member you will:

  • Support our mission of enhancing and protecting the quality of the Yahara River headwaters while educating the community and providing sustainable recreational opportunities.
  • Play a vital role in supporting our fishing clinics and river clean-ups.
  • Connect with a community who cares about your Yahara River.
  • Receive personal invitations to our special events.
  • Receive quarterly email newsletters.

Yahara Watershed Partnership Summit

Waunakee Village Center

The Yahara Watershed Partnerships Summit will bring together watershed and other local groups to encourage collaboration, develop a shared vision for the long-term future of the Yahara Watershed, and align our efforts. Discussion and break-outs will include examples of successful collaboration and innovative projects and be oriented around priorities such as; phosphorus and sediment reduction, biological improvement and adaptive management implementation. Attendees should come prepared to commit to take actionable steps to achieve the common vision they develop.
