PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
In my final newsletter for VJA, it is difficult to write the best, most encompassing words that I can find. To be honest, I need to be very brief and succinct; otherwise, I would keep on writing for days.
VJA has been my family for 12 years - I have put everything I could and more to making our school a success, to care for all the individuals who come to our building each and every day, to make people smile - or even laugh, and to challenge people to make our school or themselves better.
There has been an incredible number of great memories, good times, incredible friendships, and great wins! I hope that I have made you all proud and made our school a better place - even just a little.
I take into the next role a contentment with knowing this is not truly a goodbye, but hopefully another 12 years of making an impact on our community. My best to you all!

ATHLETICS
Greetings T-Bolt families,
As we conclude the 2020-21 school year, the T-Bolts are excited to start the summer post-season, as well opening up summer camp registration to all community families. Our athletic camps will return to their traditional format, offering both youth, and high school level camps throughout the summer. Please remember when registering your interested athlete, that you are signing them up for the grade level they are entering for the 2021-22 school year. Please visit our athletic website for more information on our camps, coach information, schedule, etc. You can find the link to the summer camp registration by visiting the athletic home page, then clicking FORMS/LINKS, and then SUMMER REC 2021-22 REGISTRATION. We also have the link provided here: CLICK HERE FOR REGISTRATION PAGE. Finally, we want to remind our families that the fall season starts on August 9th, before the school year begins. Please go to our website to see specific tryout information for August 9th. Have a great summer and Go T-Bolts!
FINALS, SUPPORT, and SUMMER SCHOOL
As we begin the last week of school for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors, here are some reminders to help students finish strong!
- Copy of the final exam schedule, which begins on Wednesday, May 26th, and ends on Friday, May 28th.
- There are two more T-Bolt Time interventions (period 2) for students to sign up for (today and Tuesday of this week).
- We also have study sessions available from 1-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday for students seeking out additional teacher support, and activity buses at 3:10 p.m. if transportation is needed.
- During the final exam periods, students seeking out additional support are encouraged to drop in to room 258.
- Academic Summer School programming will begin on Monday, June 7th. We are once again offering accelerated and credit recovery options for students. Session One runs from June 7th through June 24th. Session Two starts June 28th and ends on July 15th. Both sessions run Monday through Thursday. Both the accelerated and credit recovery programs are offered in an online format with an onsite help session for our credit recovery students.
ATHLETIC BOOSTERS
Our Queen of Hearts fundraiser will continue until we find the Queen of Hearts. It will go on through the summer. Right now we are on Week 14 and we are at $3,221 in our progressive 50/50 split. The more everyone buys, and the longer until we find the Queen, the more money there is to win! Our virtual drawing is every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. until the Queen of Hearts is picked. This is open to any resident in Illinois 18 and over. Tell all your friends and family! We will have a weekly winner that will receive a $50 gift card to a local business. Please check out our website https://andrewathleticboostersqoh.org. This drawing will continue throughout the year. Please support the Booster Club.
We would like to congratulate our scholarship winners. Athletic Scholarships were awarded to: Audrey Staudacher, Meredith Flaherty, Ella Bailitz, Allie Gerstenkorn, Jonathan Buryj, Michael Bobber, Thomas Rendon, and Mac Maciulewicz.
Matz Scholarships were awarded to: Anthony Young, Amaya Lacey, Marissa Richards, and Natalie Richards.
Thank you to all that continued to support the Booster Club. We could not continue to award scholarships and help the athletic department if not for the generosity of the Andrew Community. To those graduating seniors, we know you will represent us well. Good luck in your future endeavors and remember you will always be a T-Bolt. You are always welcome back home to see a game and cheer on your T-Bolts! We wish you all a safe and fun summer with your family and friends. Go T-Bolts.
TPPO (Thunder Pride Parent Organization)
The TPPO was able to award scholarships to five astounding students at Scholarship Night. We would like to thank our TPPO Members and everybody who participated in our fundraising events throughout the year such as Noodles & Company, Pals Socks, and Paver Bricks. It is truly rewarding to be part of the TPPO and to fundraise for our Seniors!
Here are the five Seniors who were awarded the TPPO 2021 Scholarship:
Jonathan Buryj
Hannah Johnson
Hannah Tabitha Juvida
Amy Rediger
Gaetano Spalla
Make sure to follow our TPPO Facebook Page for information and news!
MUSIC BOOSTERS
The saxophone trio advanced to the semi-finals in the 2021 Fischoff Festival and narrowly missed the finals. Such an impressive accomplishment for these musicians to be recognized in this National competition.
It was truly amazing to hear live music again in the PAC. On Tuesday, May 18, each of the band ensembles held a finale concert in front of a live audience. On Thursday, May 20, choir students also performed a finale concert in the PAC. A great way to end this year while giving seniors a final performance.
Wednesday, May 27, is the first pre-season rehearsal for the 2021 Marching Band. Curtain falls on one year while it rises for the next...
