CIS Weekly Updates
2022-2023 #11 October 31 - November 4
PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
6th grade activity night was a huge success! Students had a lot of fun and we had PLENTY of volunteers. Thank you to our student council members who helped set up. We have another 6th grade activity night planned for later in the school year.
Our next day of parent-teacher conferences is Thursday, November 3rd from 8:10am to 3:30pm. Students grades PreK-6 will not have school that day. If you have not yet had a conference with your student's teacher this year, and would like to schedule one, please reach out to the teacher to set one up.
Our annual food drive starts on Friday. We will collect money again this year instead of food items. This enables the Salvation Army to purchase food in bulk for families in need. We will have a spirit week next week and students will be encouraged to participate. Last year, we collected over $5,000. Our goal is to collect at least $5,000. If we do so, then we will have movie parties on the last day before winter break. THANK YOU for your support.
Have a GREAT week!
Brandon Cobb, Principal

Why Does Good School Attendance Matter?
Showing up matters for R.E.A.L. It is an opportunity to:
Build Routines
Increase Engagement
Provide Access to resources
Support Learning
Routines: Daily attendance routines, created at home or in school, can reduce stress for students and families and create a sense of safety and security, especially after chaotic transitions.
Engagement: Being in school helps students to get to know peers, teachers and school staff, and to create trusting relationships that motivate students to participate in learning.
Access to Resources: Schools help students and families gain access to basic resources such as meals, physical and mental health services, and fun enrichment activities including sports, clubs, music, afterschool and summer programs.
Learning: Learning is most meaningful when it is active, social, and allows students to apply concepts to real life situations. Showing up to school regularly helps students engage in learning that builds proficiency in reading and math that will help them to graduate from high school.ENCORE SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER

COVID-19 & ILLNESS AT CIS
ODH recommends schools follow general isolation procedures from the CDC for confirmed cases. If students or staff feel sick or suspect they might have COVID-19, they should stay home and take a rapid test. If positive, students and staff should stay home from school for at least 5 days and longer if necessary until fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving. Additionally, after isolation ends, students and staff should continue to take precautions as they resume normal activities by wearing a mask for 5 days (or after two negative tests 48 hours apart).
