Words from Sam!
While my time with you is winding down, the Session is very busy trying to get things ready so they and your new Pastor can start with organ repair, maintenance, and finances in good order. A workday is in the “works” to be scheduled. By the way, the Session and the Reverend John Muse have moved up John’s start date from May 30 to May 24. He will be present for Youth Sunday on May 23 and be up and running the next day. He has already begun to make the Pastor’s Study a more decorated place with interesting pictures, books, and other items on display. He wants to be fully moved in before he begins. If you are in the church building and want to peek in the Pastor’s Study, ignore my piles of paper on the desk and get a sense of how John wants the office to be comfortable and inviting.
The list of events happening up ahead at the church is growing. AA will again start meeting in the Scout House. Regular bulletins and use of the hymnbook return this Sunday. Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the second weekend in June. April 17, there will be a Red Cross Blood Drive coordinated by Kate Legg and her Mission team. Two volunteers are still needed for the 2:30-4:30 pm and the 4:30-6:30 pm shifts on that Saturday afternoon. Blood is needed. I hate to give blood, but I do it regularly. Call the church office to find out how to sign up. Already, there are numerous participants from the larger community. I would like as many of you as can to join the reception for me after church this Sunday. Being your Interim Pastor has been a gift and joy for me. You are good people. On June 13, there will be an after church welcoming reception for John Muse. His spouse, who is also clergy, has arranged to be with him on this Sunday.
Clover Presbyterian Church has been around a long time. Her witness to Christ and service to the Clover community stand on its own merits. Be more grateful than proud of your history. Set your sights on Christ’s future for you. You are at a crossroad: not back, not status quo, but forward in so many possible ways!
As you pray this week, please remember:
