Hello Lakeside Parents and Guardians,
It’s truly hard to believe that it’s May 31 and the school year is almost over! I feel that we have had a tremendous year working with your children and we could not have been as successful without the support you have provided our school. I would like to thank you for participating in the fundraisers and multiple events we have hosted throughout the school year. It’s also been great to see so many of you visiting your child’s classroom, eating lunch with your child in the cafeteria and being a chaperone during a field trip. Your presence and participation in our building and in the education of your child is sincerely appreciated and he/she will never forget your support.
If you and your child are leaving Lakeside, I would like to thank you for all you have done to make Lakeside a better place and I wish you the best in your transition to your next school. If you are returning to Lakeside, we look forward to seeing you at Back to School registration on Tuesday, July 16, from 12:00-8:00 p.m. Our first day of school is on Monday, July 29. Please know that it is very important that you attend registration in order for us to obtain updated information and to ensure we have your child placed in a classroom for the first day of school. Also, at registration, our PTA will be asking you to join. We are extremely proud of our PTA and the support that the organization has given to our students and staff. Please know that you are all encouraged to join and participate as much as you can.
In closing, thanks again, for all you have done to support your child, your child’s teacher, and our great school! I hope everyone has a great summer!

Lost and Found
We currently have many personal items in the Lost and Found bins located in the school clinic. Please check with your child and if they are missing any clothing, jackets, books, lunchboxes, or other personal items, please have them check our bins. Any item not claimed by the end of the year will be donated to a worthy charity.
It’s that time of year when we need to remind student to make sure they have appropriate clothing for recess. The district policy states students will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees. We have extra coats, hats, and gloves for students in need. Please contact the front office if you need assistance.
Students must go outside unless we have a doctor statement.
While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. To access fun and helpful resources for healthy celebration ideas please visit the district wellness policy by clicking on this link. Also, note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.
SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/ NEWS MEDIA USE FOR STUDENTS
In compliance with the district's wellness policy, please DO NOT send in a food item for your child's birthday. We encourage you to donate your child's favorite book to their classroom, arrange a time for a game or craft in the classroom, send in party hats for your students class or send in stickers or cards.
In an effort to keep all students safe anyone wanting to visit the classroom, have lunch with a child, and/or go on field trips must visit the front office to complete a background check. Please bring an ID at that time. Visits are limited to 30 minutes throughout the day. During those 30 minutes, parents are not able to talk with teachers. We do not want to interrupt class time. If you are wanting to meet with a teacher please schedule that with the teacher prior to you visiting the school. Again, we do not want to interrupt instruction time.
If a student has a balance of $25.00 or higher, the student will be provided a choice of two alternate meals at a reduced rate of $0.50. Parents may check student account balances by using the link provided to the Lunch Parent Portal. Chartwell would like to remind all parents that breakfast is available to all students for free in the classroom in the morning.
