Come be a part of a night that can help change a student's life forever...
In Prosper ISD the social and emotional health of our students is a top priority as evidence of our Prosper ISD Strategic Plan. We collectively worked together with students, staff, parents, Prosper ISD School Board, and the community to decide what our school district found to be of utmost importance.
Born out of our Prosper ISD Strategic Plan was a call to implement a program at the middle school and high school level to combat the stifling effects of mental health. A large group of PISD leaders and teachers attended training to learn more about Hope Squad coming to Prosper. The team was impressed by Hope Squad which is a peer-to-peer program that partners with local mental health and community agencies. Hope Squad is about shifting the culture of schools and making it acceptable to openly discuss mental health in an effort to gain assistance before making a life-changing decision. Students nominate students to be part of Hope Squad. These students are then trained to be active listeners so they may help and respond to peers who are struggling with emotional issues such as depression and suicide.
