Fourth marking is upon us with all its activities and end of the year excitement! COVID-19 affected us in so many ways, one being the suspension of field trips. We are happy to report that we have reinstated field trips and the staff has been busy planning trips to exciting locations. We want all of our Huskies to be able to participate in our events, including field trips, extra curriculars, and clubs. If you find yourself in financial need, please reach out to any member of administration and we will ensure your Husky can participate. All requests are confidential. Email addresses are available on our website. It's great to be a Husky!

Summer School

Holly Academy is pleased to be offering summer school again this year. We will be replicating the program we ran last year, which included one two-week session, and two three-week sessions. The summer school hours are 8:00am-12:00pm. There is no cost to our families. You can opt your Husky into any or all sessions. This program is not intended to accelerate students. The intent is to fill gaps in learning and assist students with retaining information over the summer. Please fill out the Google Form below if you are interested. The deadline for registration is Friday, April 15th. Dare to be remarkable!

Spring Testing

As you know, each year we are mandated by the State and CMU to provide specific state and district tests during specific times frames. The official "kick off" to spring testing begins next week, specifically Wednesday, April 13th. On this date, all 8th grade students will take the PSAT 8 in the areas of ELA and Math. The week of April 18th will begin our MSTEP testing, and the week of May 2nd will begin our NWEA testing. Although there will be an overlap in our testing windows, please know we have worked very hard to schedule specific grades on certain dates to ensure students have every opportunity to be successful and not feel overwhelmed. I know our students will be amazing! Dare to Be Remarkable!

Choices Program

Holly Academy, along with the Holly Area Community Coalition, is pleased to offer the “Choices for a Bright Future” class to our 4th and 5th grade students. They will meet twice per week after school beginning Tuesday, April 12th in the media center. "Choices" uses a nationally recognized Botvin Life Skills curriculum. It is a character building class that helps build positive traits in youth that can give them tools to make positive choices in everyday life. During the class, they teach the lesson through discussion, interaction, and games that help bring home these messages. Students will receive a workbook to help them during the class, a certificate, and a t-shirt of completion. Please see the attached flyer and registration form.

Art Smart Project

Prior to spring break, all students participated in an Art Smart project. The students learned about symmetry. Each student was given a butterfly and had the option of designing their butterfly using either a symmetrical or asymmetrical design.

Hope Lawless planned the project and attached the butterflies on boards that will be displayed throughout the school.

The 3rd grade board is shown in the picture below.
