Our theme this year is iCan@KellerHarvel. I can... Create, Accelerate & iNnovate! So what does this all mean? The vision at Keller Harvel stands strong, we strive to be an exceptional school in which to live, work and grow. There will be three main areas in which we will focus during our time in professional development: Creating amazing writers , accelerating our knowledge in Math and learning new & innovative ways to integrate technology in our lessons.
Our teachers will be implementing Writer's Workshop during Language Arts time. This time will be dedicated to helping all of our students become confident and fluent writers. Your child will be encouraged to write everyday and your child's teacher will guide them throughout the writing process. Want to help? Look for information from your child's teacher after the school year begins.
The Math TEKS have been updated and we will be studying those changes at each grade level and invite you to join us during the year to hear more about what your child is learning. Teachers are also going to be utilizing the Math Investigations curriculum in the classroom and will provide your student time to become problem solvers. Click HERE for more information about this curriculum.
Technology is always changing. That is why we must find the very best way to integrate technology in as many settings as possible. We will take more time this year meeting with our district's media specialists as well as working together to find more ways to put our existing technology in the hand of our students.
What CAN you do to help? Do you have a talent that you would like to share with other parents, teachers or students? Please let us know...we would love to hear from you. Look for our Parent Ed courses this year too to learn more. Topics we plan to cover include Writing, Math TEKS/Investigations and Technology Integration. I encourage you to visit with your child's teacher this year about these three areas and look for opportunities to join us.

Summer Residency Verification and New Student Registration
If you have returning students or students that were pre-registered prior to June 9, 2014 you should have received an email from Keller ISD InfoSnap on July 30, 2014.
Please take the time to complete the on-line registration for the 2014-2015 school year. After making sure all student data is correct, you can then upload a current utility bill, (gas, electric or water bill) into InfoSnap to show proof of residency.
When InfoSnap is complete residency verification is complete and your student/s will be added to class lists.
If you prefer to complete this process in person, we will have residency verification and new student registration on Tuesday, August 5 from 1-7 pm and Wednesday, August 6 from 7 am to 1 pm. We will have computers available for you to use here on campus to complete InfoSnap, if needed. If you are able to complete everything on-line in InfoSnap you do not need to come to the school or show proof of residency on campus.
If you reside with a family within our attendance zone, and at this time you do not have a utility bill in your name, you will need to stop by the school to complete residency verification by filling out an Affidavit of Residency. The person that you live with that has the utility bill in their name will need come to the school with you to complete the affidavit of residency. They will need to bring the current utility bill and their driver’s license.

KISD to Present Bond Proposal at Town Hall Meeting August 11
A community-wide Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, August 11, at the Keller ISD Education Center, at which Superintendent Dr. Randy Reid will detail the District’s final bond proposal to be presented to the Board of Trustees for consideration in an upcoming November election.
Earlier this year, community forums were held at each of Keller ISD’s four high schools, at which Dr. Reid presented a conceptual idea related to the November bond package. The presentation was also made available through an online video. The District welcomed questions, concerns and suggestions from the community and took these into consideration while crafting the final proposal.
“We received a great deal of constructive feedback from parents, students and community members throughout the course of the potential bond presentations,” said Dr. Reid. “Keller ISD is dedicated to proposing a bond that meets the needs of our stakeholders, most importantly our students, and the changes we have made are a reflection of our community’s wishes.”
The Keller ISD Citizens Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC), a group composed of parents and community and business members, began meeting with the District administration in February 2014 to help develop a bond package that would bring Keller ISD a dedicated Career Technology Education campus, create purer feeder patterns for existing schools, allow the District to keep up with continuing growth and improve existing infrastructure.
In addition to the Town Hall on August 11, the Keller ISD Board of Trustees will hold a Joint Meeting with the Keller City Council at 6 p.m. on August 6, at the Keller ISD Education Center, 350 Keller Parkway, Keller, Texas 76248. The Joint Meeting will include a general discussion agenda item during which the City Council and Board of Trustees will share common interest topics including the bond proposal.
KISD Hosts Community Forums on Conceptual Bond Idea
Dr. Reid presented the District’s conceptual idea related to the potential November bond package. Keller ISD administrators and the Citizens Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) have recently reviewed this idea, and in an effort to clearly articulate the idea and answer questions, Dr. Reid is reaching out to parents and community members.
Forums were held at Keller High on May 15, Central High on May 22, Timber Creek on May 27 and Fossil Ridge on May 28.
Please click HERE to see Dr. Reid's full presentation (video & powerpoint are both available). This link will also provide you with many other pieces of information including FAQs, additional facts about the CTE center, and our current enrollment as well as projections.
