Miss Cleasby's 4K News

News for the week of September 22nd

Apple Theme

*The next two weeks we will be learning all about apples. We will taste them and graph our favorites, we will paint with apples, and next week we will make applesauce in class! Even our dramatic play area will be turned into an apple orchard!

* We will read the book Ten Apples Up On Top and make a silly picture with 10 apples on top of our heads!

*We will learn the fun math number identification game “Where’s the Worm?”. The students will be taking home a copy of the game this Friday to keep. You can play this fun game to practice identifying numbers. If your child is having trouble recognizing the numbers put them in order and help them count up to the number they wish to guess. You can also start with numbers 1-5 to make it easier and then add numbers when they are ready!

Jolly Phonics

This week we will start our Jolly Phonics curriculum! Each week we will learn a new letter, sound, and action. This multi sensory approach is very effective at helping students learn their letters and the sounds they make. Our first jolly phonics letter of the week is "L". The action for the letter "L" sound is to hold your hand up to your mouth and pretend to lick a lollipop and say /l/ /l/ /l/. Click on the video below to hear the letter "L" Jolly Phonics song!
