Glows and Grows

Glows: Wow!! The CAASPP scores for Cordelia Hills were phenomenal. We grew 14.82 scaled points for ELA (31 in 3rd grade) and 27.18 points for math (35 points in 5th grade). This growth outpaces expected growth and district growth by far. It is a testament to your hard work and focus on achievement.

Grows: Initial data shows expected but continued struggles for our EL students and Special Education students. There is no special program that will "solve"/"fix" these students. They are general education students who need our support. How do we ensure high quality instruction for all of our resource students and English Learners?

Before School Social

GVMS, Oakbrook, Mundy, Rodriguez, and Suisun Valley are working together to host a Back to School Social on Thursday, August 22nd at Back Road Vines in the Suisun Valley. I went in June and it is a terrific little venue. I REALLY hope you can make it and I promise to buy you a beverage if you can make it. Here is a sign-up doc: Back Road Vines

FALL PD/Staff Development

Upcoming PD below. These are specific trainings but they are not an exhaustive list. For a wider list or to sign up for any district trainings, go to

Jon Corippo, 8/15 from 8:30-4:30. Full. If interested, please add to the waitlist and email me. We won't turn anyone away.

Foundational Literacy Modules. This is an important training. 53% of District 3rd graders will enter 4th grade NOT reading at grade level. Elementary Ed and EL/Instructional Services has worked together to provide a high quality set of modules for foundational reading.

This is required for all teachers in K-2. The first module is available at three different times on 8/21 at Crescent. There are other days and they are paid days. If you are unable to attend one of the paid days, we will have a sub for you on work days.

Welcome Back Staff Meeting: Our first all-staff meeting on 8/22 at 8:10 in the library. Breakfast, introductions, remarks, some intro business. My goal is to get you into classes as quickly as possible.

First Staff Meeting: 9/3 at 3:10 in the library. The focus is on Small Group Instruction and is the first of three small group instruction trainings.

I will send release to you later today. Please be patient and flexible. It is a different schedule compared to years past and it won't be without bumps. If you see issues or wish to request a change, please let me know.
