What's Happening at ATP?
February 1-5, 2021
Dear Students, Families, and Staff
Once again, I have very minimal information to update you on reopening. There is a School Board meeting this Tuesday evening, February 9, for the latest information. Just a reminder, we will have supplementary kits to distribute to our students. These supplementary kits will support our virtual learning as well as support independent practice for soft job skills. There are four different types of supplementary kits: cooking, cleaning, gardening, and art. Your teacher will let you know more about the kits and how to get them. The kits should be ready in about two weeks --stay tuned!.
February is Black History Month where we honor contributions made by Black Americans. Some notable figures celebrated are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, who fought for civil rights; Thurgood Marshall, first African-American justice appointed to the Supreme Court; Mae Jemison, first female African-American astronaut to travel to space; and Kamala Harris, the first African-American/South Asian-American elected as Vice President of the United States. Take some time this month to read and learn about the many wonderful contributions made by Black Americans.
Just a reminder that February 15-19 is President's Week break. There will be no school during this time.
Take care,
Grace Ridgeway

OUSD Adult Transition Program (OATP)
The adult transition program (ATP) serves students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22. ATP prepares students to participate in educational, employment, and community-based activities. Daily instruction focuses on activities of daily living and includes opportunities to practice these skills within the classroom and their community. ATP provides a bridge to support students in accessing post-secondary options including courses at local colleges, obtaining competitive integrated employment, and participating in regionalized programs. The primary goal for ATP is to promote opportunities for students to become more independent and become contributing members of their communities.
