Community Update for Bonsall Unified School District
Superintendent's Message
As we prepare for the first day of school I want to share a few important updates with you. Bonsall USD is committed to ensuring your student has access to world-class learning.
As you walk on campus this year you will find the following:
- Bonsall has hired more teachers to inspire our students
- Bonsall has hired intervention specialists to address learning loss
- Bonsall has hired more para-educators to address learning loss
- Bonsall has hired more counselors to support social-emotional needs of students
- Bonsall has purchased new curriculum for our TK-12 teachers to use in their instruction
- Bonsall will provide free breakfast and lunch for all students daily
- Bonsall has increased communication with parents and the community
Parents are welcome to walk their students to class the first day of school at each of elementary schools. Parents may escort their student to the classroom door. Once school begins, all parents will be asked to exit the campus. We know how special the first day of school is and we want to ensure you have the opportunity to share it with your student. Parents, this is a very big day for your child and your teacher. Your teacher will be preparing to bring students into the class and begin the school year. This is not the proper time to hold a conference. If you have any information you would like to share, I encourage you to email or set up a time to meet.
The Bonsall staff are ready to make this year special for your student. We have missed our students and can't wait to see them.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing educators, parents and students. Bonsall is an amazing place to live and learn. I hope you will do your part in getting involved and making our amazing schools even greater.

Health and Safety
As we begin the 21-22 school year our focus is to provide excellent full time in-person learning for all BUSD students. As we do so, it is critical that we continue to keep our staff and students safe.
Bonsall Unified School District will continue to take multiple steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at our sites.
Let's talk masks:
There has been a tremendous amount of conversation about wearing of masks inside of school classrooms.
Bonsall Unified will follow the CDPH (State) guidance. This guidance is required for all public and private schools. Individual Districts (LEA) cannot modify the guidance. Individual school sites cannot modify the guidance. Individual classrooms cannot modify the guidance. It is very important that we are consistent in our adherence to the guidance.
Masks are required for all staff and all students inside of classrooms.
Parents getting involved
Parents Getting Involved
Volunteers - As we begin the school year, we will not have volunteers in the classroom. We hope to have our parents back in the room and doing great things soon. We will provide updates in the upcoming weeks.
Ways to get involved:
- Get involved in your school's PTSA or PTO
- Get involved in the Bonsall Education Foundation
Look for information from each school principal in the coming days and weeks for opportunities to get involved.
