Many Hands, One Mason!!

February 9, 2020

Dear Mason Families,

Happy Sunday! It was so cool to see so many of our families at our 3rd Annual Mason Winter Formal last night; each year it gets bigger and better! Special shout out to Kris McKean and all the volunteers who spent countless hours making sure this event was a tremendous success for everyone involved!

Last week, our staff continued to discuss Culturally Responsive Teaching Strategies during our designated professional development time. We are excited to have the right conversations that will continue to help our learners flourish even more than they already are currently. Our biggest takeaway was that our words matter. We must continue to focus on how we as adults (teachers and family members) talk to each other and to our learners. We must model inclusive language for them and how to show empathy and respect for others. We value to your support with this important matter and encourage you to register for our ONEGP Parent Camp Conference on Feb. 28th. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about our Diversity initiatives we have throughout the district and ways to better support your child in every area possible.

Thanks for your time,

Roy Bishop, Jr.

Principal

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Mason's school day begins at 9:05 on Mondays and 8:20 Tuesday-Friday. The only students that should be in the building before that time are students enrolled in Kids club, students getting breakfast and members of the Safety/Service team. Everyone else should be lining up on the playground with their class. Parents, please let your student continue to develop their independence and enter the building on their own.

Afternoon dismissal is at 3:38 PM. Please pick your student up on the playground or designated area. The end of day is busy with lessons winding down and students getting ready to go home. If you must pick your student up early, we request that you call the office before noon so we may get your student ready at the necessary time. We are very busy in the office at this time so we ask your patience as we may not answer the door after 3:15 PM.

Thank you
