CJH Weekly Update
Staff - The Week of April 29th
All The Things You Need To Know....
Friendly reminder that we will meet in Room 26 at 3:10. Please be sure to check the link below to complete the Distributed Leadership Survey. A screen shot printed or e-mailed to me will be your get out of the meeting early pass! We do have a few things to review prior to providing time for you to complete the survey.
PLC Meetings
We will provide one more opportunity for staff to meet 6-12 during PLC time. This is a great opportunity to work on solidifying plans for curriculum maps.
Summer School
I will be posting positions for Summer School soon. If you are interested, and have either a Math or an ELA certification, please let me know. I am willing to tailor dates to help accommodate your schedule. I am shooting for dates in August to run our program. As we discussed in a previous staff meeting the research shows that an early kick off to the school year provides greater growth overall than an extension of the school year. This will be a skills based remediation program as opposed to credit recovery.
6th Grade Testing
Testing will occur on Tuesday, April 30th and on Thursday, May 2nd. Students will report to 1st hour for attendance. Once you have completed attendance, please walk them to the cafeteria to eat breakfast. After they have finished breakfast I will provide a few reminders regarding what they can take into the room and we will then dismiss them to the posted room assignments. Rosters will be posted on Monday for students to review.
- Students must bring a Chromebook to testing.
- I will provide Test Tickets to classroom supervisors prior to testing with rosters.
- Please take attendance on the roster and return all tickets, separated by used and unused.
- Online Test Directions
- Test Administration Manual
- Students will be allowed to read after completion of the test.
Chromebook Settings for Testing
Please make sure that all students have restarted their Chromebooks prior to testing. This will insure that all updates have completed installation. In addition we should also have them all check their keyboard settings prior to testing.
When testing on Chromebooks, the keyboard must be set to US Keyboard. If it is not set this way, the student will not be able to use quotation marks or apostrophes in text boxes.
BEFORE testing: select "Settings" then "Keyboard Settings" and select "US Keyboard"
DURING testing: click anywhere outside of the text box and press CTRL + SHIFT + SPACE BAR to select "US Keyboard"

Distributed Leadership
As part of the conclusion of this grant cycle, we need to complete the Post-Survey. I will include the link below. Please keep a few of things below in mind as you complete the survey.
- Please answer honestly based on your position. All certified staff should participate.
- Pay close attention when the question asks "in your classroom" versus "in the building"
- We plan to use the results of the post survey to continue to drive our work in the building as we continue to move forward.
We will provide some time during the next staff meeting to complete the survey, however if you would like a "Get Out of the Meeting Early" card - provide me with a screen shot of the last page of your survey that confirms it has been submitted. You can print or e-mail me the screen shot.
Distributed Leadership Post-Survey
Self-Study Staff Survey Introduction Page for DLD Schools:
Dear School Staff Member,
All certified staff at your school are being invited to participate in this confidential online survey (once at the beginning of the school year and once at the end of the school year) as part of your school’s involvement in the Title II Part A Teacher and School Leader Instructional Support Grant – Distributed Leadership Development. The survey asks about school-wide leadership practices and teaching and learning practices and will provide your school with information that should be helpful for ongoing planning. The survey will take 20-25 minutes to complete.
The Institute For Excellence in in Education is a nonprofit organization focused on providing professional development and coaching in K-12 schools. IEE has 22 years of experience in outcomes based professional learning. IEE team members believe that teachers and school leaders are key factors in successful schools and they work to support educators in their work.
Your survey will be kept entirely confidential. It does not ask for your name, and your email address and computer IP address will not be collected. Individual survey responses will not be reported. Survey results will be reported only in a summarized fashion for your whole school that does not identify any individual. The results will be provided to your coach to help determine how to further improve leadership practices at your school. We anticipate that there are no risks involved in participation beyond those risks that exist in daily life, and that participation should not result in any distress. While your full participation is greatly appreciated, if you feel uncomfortable about answering any particular question, please skip to the next question.
Your participation in the survey is voluntary. Your decision to participate or not to participate will not in any way influence your future relations with IEE or your school. If you do decide to participate, you may exit the survey and discontinue participation at any time.
After you finish filling out the survey, a completion page will be displayed. If you want a copy of this page for your records, you can print a copy. This page is not linked to your survey responses.
The Center for Prevention Research and Development (CPRD) at the University of Illinois is carrying out the data collection service. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Nancy Flowers at 877-255-7078 (toll free) or nflowers@illinois.edu.
“I have read and understand this information and voluntarily agree to participate.”
(If you want a copy of this document for your records, please print a copy now.)
Please click on the link below to consent and begin the survey.
Thank you for your participation!
