Musk Ox Memo
............................2020-2021.......................
First things first, THANK YOU for raising such amazing students and sharing them with us. We enjoy every day we have with your students and they are making amazing progress this year. We are all happy to be back in school with students.
This school year has had many challenges with the biggest being how to meet the needs of students that are in school while also meeting the needs of students that have had to quarantine and can't be in school. As you know, next week students will be participating in remote learning. I have encouraged our teachers to provide meaningful work for students next week that can be completed independently without a teacher or parent's support. I have also encouraged them not to zoom with students next week so that they can focus on mitigation plans and how to meet the needs of all our learners. If your child's teacher does have a zoom it should not be scheduled for any longer than 30 minutes. Please use this time to catch up, be with your family, and hopefully relax and feel better for any of our students or family that are sick.
We do not want next week's remote learning to cause any additional stress than it may already be causing. Please reach out to your child's teacher to me if you need any support.
If you would like to pick up Grab and Go meals please use the sign up below so we can plan how many meals are needed and about what time they will be picked up. ALL MSBSD students are eligible for the Grab and Go meals.

When you arrive at the school for the meals please call the main office at 864-2300 and we will bring them out to your car.
Please check this edition of the Musk Ox Memo by Monday morning for the information your child needs for remote learning next week as your child's teacher page may not be updated yet.
I would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
In this together,
Jen Dowd

Sick students struggle learning so please keep them home even if they have a negative COVID test until they are feeling much better.

Machetanz Elementary Annual Food Drive for Kids Kupboard 2020
Our Annual Food Drive supports a local nonprofit Kids Kupboard. They feed children year-round with our community support. This year has been particularly hard on families and we know our families are always as generous as they can be this time of year. For the past several years, this food drive has provided over 6,000 pounds of food each year to this amazing organization. Let's see if we can meet or beat this goal!
We will collect food November 16-20 and again when we return from the short term closure November 30- December 4
Collection times will be after 2:00 PM each day!
The three classes bringing in the most pounds of food will have the honor of being on the trophy plaque along with a fabulous class prize!
1st place- Pizza Celebration
2nd place-Games for the classroom
3rd place- Games for the classroom
Whole school: Ice cream bars :)

Special Santa Parent Instructions
Please send your child with clean masks every day. Students should have a couple of masks in the event their mask gets wet. A wet mask is an ineffective mask. Thank you!
