Home & School's Buddy Bench
After a long wait, I am happy to announce that our Buddy Bench has been installed. Signage regarding the use of the bench, grass seed, and lessons regarding its use will follow in the coming year. We are so thankful to our Home & School organization which made this beautiful bench possible. As you may be aware the bench not only provides a place for students and our Steeple Run community to sit but really supports our commitment to the development of relationships and social-emotional learning which is embedded within our daily instruction.

Medication to be Picked Up
It is District procedure that parents pick up all medication at the end of the school year. It is requested that you pick up all leftover medication that a child may have in the health office by the last day of attendance. No medication will be sent home with a student unless the student has permission on file in the health office that allows the child to self-carry the medication. This would apply to inhalers and EpiPens only.
ANY MEDICATION NOT PICKED UP BY THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL WILL BE DESTROYED. DOCUMENTATION OF DISPOSAL WILL BE RECORDED IN THE STUDENT’S HEALTH FILE.
2019-2020 School Supplies - DUE THIS WEEK!
If you wish to order a school supply kit from Home & School, order forms are due THIS WEDNESDAY, MAY 22ND! Order forms are available on the Steeple Run Elementary website here. This is a great way to avoid the back to school crowds and save the amount of sales tax you would be charged at a retail store. Supply Kits will be in your student’s classroom on the first day of school.
If you choose to shop on your own for your school supplies and have a student going into grade(s) 3-5, you must purchase an assignment notebook from H&S prior to the end of this school year as indicated on the order form. Carlson’s will not sell the assignment notebook.
Contact Michele Baum at michele_baum19@yahoo.com or 630.881.0109 with any questions regarding school supplies.

Crayon recycling and marker repurposing program
This year, Steeple Run would like to start what we hope will become an annual program that will recycle or repurpose used crayons and markers. Starting Monday, May 20th and continuing until the end of school year, bins will be placed near the front lobby for students to donate used or broken crayons and markers.
Worn and broken crayons will be melted down and molded to create new crayons. If the crayons are still in decent shape, they may go to children who are in need of new ones. Dried up markers will be shipped for repurposing and be kept out of our landfills. Even better, Steeple Run scouts will help sort the crayons as part of their community service so they will be ready for recycling! If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact Sandy Monroy at sandy@monroy.org or 847-852-6075.
Box Tops Collection
Thanks to all the families who participated in this school year's Box Top collection drive! We had a good year with all the grades collecting over $700 worth of box tops for H&S which goes towards birthday books, the Back to School bash and other activities!
Please be reminded you can still collect box tops over the summer for our fall drive! Don't forget to ask your neighbors and extended family as well!! Every bit helps!
Thank you and have a great summer! If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact Sandy Monroy at sandy@monroy.org or 847-852-6075.
