"Take a Stand", the Ninth Grade Assessment Project in Central Bucks, specifically targets several of the district’s learning goals, including collaboration and responsible citizenship, while focusing on the skills of researching, analyzing perspectives, and presenting information.

At Holicong, we are getting ready to introduce the Assessment to our 9th grade students. On Friday, November 16, Mr. Rittenhouse and Mrs. del Rosario will present the details of the 9th Grade Assessment to students. Additionally, for parents, we will be hosting a 9th Grade Assessment Information Session at Holicong on Tuesday, November 20. The Information Session will begin at 6:15 PM in Holicong's Auditorium. Veterans Day - "Lest We Forget"

Holicong Middle School students all participated in a writing activity as we honored our Veterans' service to our Country. We asked students to explain their personal thoughts about the importance of Veterans Day. From those essays, teachers of students in all three grade levels will choose students from each grade to attend an interactive video conference with veterans from around the country. Men and women form WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Operation Iraqi Freedom will be represented. These men and women served in all branches of the armed services and see it to be their duty to educate young people about importance of honoring those that served their country.

Thanksgiving Baskets

The Holicong Community (students, staff, and families) have a long tradition of making Thanksgiving Baskets for local families who struggle for various reasons. Student Council provides the turkeys. Our students donate canned goods, non-perishable food (like pasta, rice, condiments),and non-food items. Our staff members provide the trimmings and perishable food items. If your family is able to help – that would be greatly appreciated. We are hoping to make 12-15 Thanksgiving Baskets. All donations should be sent in by Thursday, November 15th. Thank you for your support of this tradition.

November 12th – 16th Holicong Middle School will observe Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week recognizes all of the men, women, and children who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs - those afflicted by drug abuse, as well as the innocent victims. In Homeroom on Monday all students and staff will receive a red wristband to wear for the week.

The students of POPS (Power of Positive Students) have come up with themes and slogans for each day to help provide positive messages and healthy alternatives to getting involved with drugs. We hope everyone (students and staff) will participate. Parents are also encouraged to use this week and the themes to talk with your adolescents.
