Timberwolf Family,
Tomorrow, Monday, January 16th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and there is no school for students and staff. This nationally recognized day is dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of him. Please enjoy the three-day weekend and celebration of his message of love, hope, and unity!
Below you will find lots of great information in the Timberwolf Times, including our upcoming fundraisers. Additionally, we have important information regarding our process for course selection for the 2023-2024 school year, so please be thorough in reading through all instructional information.
This week we will be hosting our Incoming 6th Grade Parent Night and Boys Basketball. Next week, we have more basketball and several fine arts coffee house concerts. Please look for more information below, and we hope to see you there!
Lastly, our PTA is kicking off the year with a Healthy Trolley for our Teachers, and Fun Food Friday, next Friday. Please see information below to sign up to volunteer or donate items to these events. Thank you, PTA!

2023-2024 COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION
Course Selection for 2023-2024 School Year
Course selection for the 2023-2024 school year will begin soon! Please view the attached fliers for important course selection events. Also, review the WCJH Course Selection Timeline so that you are aware of important deadlines.
WCJH Course Selection Timeline
- January 20th-31st: The course selection window opens for parents & students to select courses in SchooLinks.
- January 24th: Counselors from Katy High School & Tompkins High School visit WCJH to deliver a 9th grade course selection presentation to 8th graders.
- January 25th: Current 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students will watch a course selection presentation during their Science class. Students will also receive their Course Offerings Sheet for the 2023-2024 school year. Please scan the QR code on the back of the Course Offerings Sheet to view the directions for entering course requests in SchooLinks.
- February 1st: The SchooLinks Course Planner will become “viewable only” for parents and students. This means you will not be able to make any changes on the Course Planner.
- February 2nd: The Course Offerings Sheet is due back to your child’s Science teacher. PLEASE TURN THIS IN ON TIME!
- February 9th & 13th: Current 7th graders will meet with counselors individually to verify their courses in SchooLinks for the 2023-2024 school year.
- February 10th & 13th: Current 6th graders will meet with counselors individually to verify their courses in SchooLinks for the 2023-2024 school year.
- February 13th, 15th, 16th, & 17th: Current 8th graders will meet with counselors individually to verify their courses in SchooLinks & create their 4-year plan for high school.
- March 20th-28th: Course verification window—Courses are viewable in SchooLinks & students & parents will verify and/or submit course change requests in SchooLinks. This is the ONLY opportunity to request changes to course requests for the upcoming school year.

The PTA would like to bring other topics of interest to the students and parents.

Several of our WCJH staff have joined the LimeLight Fundraising Team and will be running the Katy 5k or Half-Marathon to raise money to donate to Katy Independent School District Education Foundation Grants.

ATTENTION ALL CURRENT 6TH GRADE PARENTS
National Digital Citizenship Week is from 1/23-1/27
This year’s focus is on helping students navigate social media and keeping them safe online.
Students will be able to participate in an engaging virtual challenge that is self-directed and accessed from their Canvas dashboard.
Canvas course requests will be sent out for self-enrollment.
Classes will review the course during their library rotations starting January 9th. The four topics presented will be:
1. Social Media Tips
2. Digital Drama Unplugged
3. Presenting Yourself Online
4. Who are You Talking to Online

2023-2024 STUDENT TRANSFER APPLICATION
The Student Transfer Application for the 2023-2024 school year will open on January 3, 2023, and close on February 10, 2023. The online application can be found on the Katy ISD Student Transfers webpage.
All students currently on an approved transfer must reapply, except for children of employees who meet the criteria for automatic renewal. The Student Transfer Application for the 2023-2024 school year must be submitted by February 10, 2023. Failure to submit a transfer application by the deadline will revert your child(ren)’s campus assignment to their home-zoned campus. Late applications will not be accepted.
