The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board held a public meeting on Monday, December 5. The following are important news and notes from that meeting.
School Board Recognizes West Linn and Wilsonville Robotics Teams
In honor of Computer Science Education Week, the Board recognized the incredible STEM learning currently taking place at every West Linn-Wilsonville school. In particular, the Board recognized West Linn High School Teacher Tim Manes and the West Linn High School Robotics Team 2B Determined.
On top of qualifying for the FIRST Championship Worlds competition last year, West Linn High School robotics students host multiple engineering camps for middle school students every school year. Organized by robotics students, West Linn High School hosted middle school students from across the district in October. Thank you to all of our teachers and robotics mentors!
Board Announces Budget Committee Vacancy
The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board announced a vacancy for Budget Committee Position No. 5. There are currently
two Budget Committee vacancies. Any West Linn-Wilsonville resident is eligible to apply by submitting an application. Applications are due December 31, 2022.
The Budget Committee works with the School Board to review and approve the budget for each school year. Budget Committee members are asked to attend five to six evening meetings beginning in the spring to review the proposed budget.
Board Approves Declaration of Surplus Property
The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board
approved a resolution declaring 2.93 acres of Surplus Property at 7035 SW Boeckman Road adjacent to the site for the district's new primary school. With the approved declaration, the district will now work on developing a Purchase and Sales Agreement with the City of Wilsonville as part of their master plan to convert the site to a neighborhood park.
The district-owned 9.68 acre property that is adjacent this surplus land will be the home of the district's newest primary school, which is scheduled to open for the 2024-25 school year.
Board Awards Construction Contract for Trillium Creek Primary Secure Entryway
The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board approved a resolution that awards the Security Upgrades at Trillium Creek Project to First Cascade Corp. for a contract amount of $369,777.00. The budgeted amount for the project was $400,000.
First Cascade Crop. is the same contractor that completed the Lowrie Primary secure entryway project, which has the same building layout as Trillium Creek.
