CSHS Back to School Bulletin
Welcome Back!
Dear Cougar Family,
When I was a teacher and I received my back to school letter, it always brought mixed emotions. The realization of summer's impending end weighed upon me while the excitement of the new year started to spread into a smile upon my face. So here I sit, writing this and knowing I may be causing similar feelings in all of you. I apologize for any sadness this letter may bring and say "You're welcome!" if it brings a smile to your face as well.
Since this is my first summer as principal, I have officially moved to working year round. I say "officially" because we all know that while the school year lasts 187 days, those who teach are never truly "off" in the summer. Planning, research, conferences, and student activities keep teachers in the school building long after the last school bell in May. And because of this, I have seen many of you throughout the summer. I will say that CSHS is just not the same without our full faculty and amazing students, but I am grateful for the time to prepare for the new school year. To those who stopped by to say hello, thank you! To those who are heading up to school this week to start getting ready, I say, come on by!
To our returning teachers, I have been planning for you, thinking about you, waiting for you to return to give our empty building back its heartbeat by showing our new staff what it means to be a College Station High School Cougar. I hope that you return refreshed and rejuvenated and that you took some time to reflect on the last school year and are thinking of how you will continue to grow as an education professional in 2016-17.
To our new teachers, I have been planning for you, thinking about you, waiting for you to come join our family to become part of the heartbeat of CSHS and to learn what it really means to be a College Station High School Cougar. I hope that your journey to CSHS has been a smooth one and that in the midst of moving, packing up your previous classroom or planning for your first classroom you have taken some time for yourself.
To our entire school family, I have been planning for you, thinking about you, waiting for you to fill our hallways again with laughter and happy greetings and our classrooms with the bustle of learning. We have a beautiful building, but the facilities are not what make this an incredible place for our students to learn. YOU ARE.
The 2015-2016 school year was a tremendous year for our school, claiming multiple individual state championships, numerous playoff berths, and culminating in a third place finish in the 5A division of the University Interscholastic League’s Lone Star Cup, given annually to the high schools with the best overall athletic, fine arts, and academic programs in the state. As we celebrate our 5th anniversary for our campus this year, we continue to build on our foundation of having high expectations directed toward the success of each Cougar both in and out of the classroom. I look forward to our time together in August for us to work TOGETHER to plan how we will continue to PURSUE PERFECTION and ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE.
Welcome back! And, as always, COUGAR PRIDE!
Tiffany

Room Use
In addition, we are hosting several district events in our building in August.
- New Teacher University: August 8-10, 3rd Floor Social Studies Wing
- You Matter: August 12, all rooms
Please be sure you room is ready to welcome guests. This does not mean it is ready for school--just that you have put away personal items you would be concerned about losing and there are no major messes that others would have to pick up. Thank you!

Your Schedule
Please consult with your department chairs regarding your schedule for next year.
Course Change Requests by Students
In the last few days as students have been returning to school for a variety of activities, they have started to trickle into the counseling office to try to request a class that was not on their original course request. Several kids have said that a teacher has told them to request the change. Please do not encourage students to change course requests at this late date. We are not able to accommodate these changes because we build the number of sections of each class off course requests, and the deadline to change requests was June 10.Dance Duty
