It has been a busy couple of weeks with all the MAP testing in grades 2 - 8. The students did a great job focusing and trying their best. You will have an opportunity to see the results for the Fall growth test (in reading, language usage, and math) at the Fall conferences next week. Remember, we are doing conferences earlier this year (after progress reports and in the middle of the term) instead of after the report cards are sent out. This gives everyone a better opportunity to see how their child/ren is/are doing while there is still time to make adjustments (if needed) before the trimester 1 report cards are completed. For many students, it is a simple..."keep up the good work!" For a few, however, we have the opportunity to work as a team with our parents to turn things around for students who are struggling academically and/or behaviorally. Progress Reports will go home tomorrow. Don't hesitate to let the teacher know if you have any questions about the progress of your child and if anything has changed in your life. Those changes are important for us to know so that we can help to support you at the school. This is why conferences are so important. If you haven't signed up, please do so asap. Our Annual Fund Appeal kicked off in September and ends on November 15th. This is our first major fundraiser of the year. The goal for this fund is $100,000. Your gift towards this fund provides a quality educational program for your student(s), new curriculum and materials, staff training, financial aid, and many other initiatives. There is a minimum donation of $25 for each family. If a donation is not made by November 15, 2019 a $50 charge will be billed out.

You can choose to make a one time donation or you can pledge a monthly amount. Consider giving $25 a month for ten months which provides a total donation of $250. All donations are tax deductible. All adults who volunteer with (or around) children must complete a 3 hour Virtus class and a background check. We are being very strict about enforcing this so NO parent/family member will be allowed to go on field trips without a cleared background check and being current on their Virtus class, even if you are not officially a chaperone. It is easy to take care of this requirement, so if you intend to volunteer as a chaperone or just want to be a part of a field trip or volunteering at the school, please get these items taken care of. The class is good for 3 years!! Here is a list of upcoming classes in the area and the background check is completed online, when you register for your class:
