Principal's Message
Dear Wildcats,
This week we are down to:
- 10 Instructional Days Prior to 4th Writing STAAR and 4th & 5th Reading/Math STAAR
- 30 Instructional Days Prior to 3rd-5th STAAR (Final Administration)
No pressure. :) Keep the steady course with our scholars and they will outshine themselves! We continue to look at growth. If you are in K-2nd find ways to support your fellow 3rd-5th colleagues because they are carrying the flag on their shoulders for the school. Big Shout out to Romina for working with her students on Saturday Tutorials.
This week's announcements are here for you.
- PLC: Objective for this week: PLC Thursday: Teachers will closely look at their units in the curriculum, based on recent mastery connect data/PSTAAR data plan for tight instructional lessons for students.
- Faculty PLC: This Wednesday, report to the library to listen to Dr. Muri, Superintendent as he revisits our district goals by Staying Connected. Please arrive to the library at 2:45 sharp. Greet him and be prepared to share with him how you have accomplished personalization this year.
- K-2nd Grade: Action required- ensure that weekly your math & science checkpoints are in for mastery connect. Continue to report your weekly guided reading lesson plans in your lesson plan folder.
- 3-5th Grade: Action required for reporting to Weaver. Gardner will be supporting you in the data management. Your job: Enter data into mastery connect and export your excel sheet to Gardner on Thursdays. All teachers must do the following:
- Use Mastery Connect with Daily Warm-Ups or Exit Tickets.
- Use Mastery Connect with one weekly checkpoint (testing multiple readiness TEKS aligned to STAAR), scan no later than Thursday at 4:00 p.m.and email exported information to Gardner by 4:00 p.m.
- Look at data weekly (Fridays) and plan whole/ small group lessons based on data for the following week.
Again, thank you for all you do! You make me so proud!
Wildcat Love,
Rachel Martinez

I know there are many unsung heroes out there that I did not get to mention. If you see someone out there going above and beyond and want me to recognize them on cat tracks, please send me an email.
PBIS and Project Class
Project Class: I am still missing the names from some of you for Project Class Superstars. Please send those to me by Monday, if you have not yet done so.
I am hearing lots of wonderful things from Mrs. Futch and Mrs. Donnally about the great things they are seeing and hearing in your rooms. The way you have embraced Project Class has been a joy to see! Keep up the good work!
PBIS:
Thank you to all who have displayed their Reach Out Pledge hearts. I will be coming around on Monday to take pictures to display. Just a reminder, we have a PBIS meeting on Tuesday. Get with your team and bring 1 celebration to share. Also, get with your team to get feedback on where we want go in year two (thoughts, ideas for next year, areas of improvement, strengths). I will also announce the winners of the Lunch Paws this week for the 3rd nine weeks.
Library Notes
Congrats to all our SSE readers... they have 512,416 minutes.. even without any of those 5th grade minutes- still waiting to see reading logs from Ms Perez's class.
Sorry - I have been working with the Read 100,00 software for over an hour and the dashboard of classes isn't working. It does this every once in a while. After being in Austin with our girls all day and then wanting to go to church in the morning - I probably can't get the class minutes updated before this is published. I will try to do an update on Wednesday to announce Thursday.
April is Poetry Month! Some of you have finished poetry units. We talked about having short poems on Fridays - perhaps try at lunchtime in the lunchroom - very short ones on the announcements. I would be willing to work with the children who are willing to read poem. It is important that they practice reading. Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks for your support!
